I recently tried the magical combination of pb and chocolate cookies, and it simply couldn’t be resisted. But rather than going through the hassle of creating an ice cream from scratch, I took just 5 minutes to whip up this amazing vegan peanut butter cookies ‘n cream shake.
After all, what does one do when they have a freezer full of the most amazing dairy-free frozen dessert pints? I thought blending up an assortment of non-dairy milkshakes seemed like the obvious solution to my “problem”.
About the Ingredients: Peanut Butter Cookies ‘n Cream Shake
Just in case you didn’t know, most brands of chocolate sandwich cookies are dairy-free, vegan, and even certified kosher pareve. You can use traditional Oreos or go natural or organic with Newman O’s, Nature’s Path or Country Choice. For gluten-free, I like Kinni-Toos or Glutino. And in my typical “treats for all” fashion, this peanut butter cookies ‘n cream shake recipe even has options for peanut- and tree nut-free!
However, I do have one word of advice regardless of the choices you make. Be sure to use unsweetened milk beverage when making this peanut butter cookies ‘n cream shake recipe. The amazingly rich Very Vanilla Cashewmilk Frozen Dessert and frosted cookies create a mighty sweet treat without any extra help!
This post is sponsored by So Delicious Dairy Free. But the recipe, photos, opinions and ridiculous cravings for peanut butter and cookies are all my own.
Special Diet Notes: Peanut Butter Cookies ‘n Cream Shake
By ingredients, this recipe is dairy-free / non-dairy, egg-free, optionally gluten-free (I used Glutino sandwich cookies), vegan, and vegetarian.
For a peanut-free “peanut butter” cookies ‘n cream shake, simply swap in sunflower seed butter for the peanut butter. For tree nut-free, also sub the nutty stuff with coconut milk beverage and coconut milk ice cream. Completely soy-free is trickier, as most chocolate sandwich cookie brands do contain soy lecithin. If you know of one without, please do leave a comment!
- 1 pint (2 cups) vanilla dairy-free ice cream (I use So Delicious Very Vanilla Cashew Milk Frozen Dessert)
- 1 cup unsweetened dairy-free milk beverage (I use So Delicious Unsweetened Almond or Cashew Milk Beverage)
- ¼ cup creamy salted peanut butter
- 6 chocolate sandwich cookies (optionally gluten free)
- Place all ingredients in your blender and blend until relatively smooth, or you can leave some cookie chunks if you wish.
- Divide the shake mixture between three glasses.
