It might be cold outside, but you can snuggle up with this warm Eskimo Kiss. It’s a not-to-sweet and delicious cider made with apple, pomegranate juice, and spices. And it’s a wonderful way for everyone to enjoy the flavors of the season without any top allergens.

This recipe and photo is from POM Wonderful. It is perfect for serving to guests or family members with special diets, including vegan, gluten-free, and the food allergic.
    Author: POM Wonderful
    Recipe type: Drinks
    Cuisine: American
    Serves: 3 quarts
    Ingredients
    • 2 quarts fresh apple cider
    • 1 quart fresh squeezed pomegranate juice or 100% pomegranate juice (see Juice Note below)
    • 12 cloves
    • 12 allspice berries, cracked
    • 8 cinnamon sticks, plus additional for garnish
    • 6 star anise
    Instructions
    1. Place the apple cider, pomegranate juice, cloves, allspice, cinnamon sticks, and anise in a saucepan. Place over medium-low heat, and hHeat to just under a boil for 20 minutes.
    2. Remove the pan from the heat and cover.
    3. Let the cider steep for two hours.
    4. Strain through a fine mesh sieve, and serve hot with a cinnamon stick garnish.
    5. Refrigerate leftovers. Enjoy cold or gently reheat to serve warm.
    Notes
Pomegranate Juice: This cocktail can be made with freshly squeezed juice from a pomegranate or by using 100% Pomegranate Juice. To juice the pomegranate, cut it in half (as you would a grapefruit) and juice using a citrus reamer or a juicer. Use caution to make sure the juice doesn't squeeze on your clothes - it's very red and can stain! Another option is to pulse the pomegranate arils in a blender to release the juices. Pour the mixture through a cheesecloth-lined strainer or sieve. One large pomegranate will produce about ½ cup of juice.
