To meet with the growing demand for fit vacations, a venue synonymous with over-eating and lounging is being transformed into a healthy paradise at sea. The ‘Holistic Holiday at Sea IV: Voyage to Well-Being’ is scheduled to set sail on March 4, 2007 for a seven day cruise. The event is cosponsored by a Taste of Health and the Vegetarian Times Magazine, and will feature over 25 prominent speakers and teachers, with more than 100 classes available for the mind, body, and appetite. A small sampling of the keynote speakers includes:
- Christina Pirello, Emmy Award-winning TV host and author of the best-seller "Cooking the Whole Foods Way, and more recently "Christina Cooks: Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Whole Foods But Were Afraid to Ask ."
- Cornell University professor Dr. T. Colin Campbell, author of "The China Study ," a world famous research program and book that presents hard evidence against the American Diet, and suggests necessary dietary changes.
- Vegan research scientist, and founder of Physicians Committee For Responsible Medicine, Dr. Neal Barnard.
Though a wide array of education will be available on board, the true indulgences of vacation will abound as well. The traditional menus will be coupled with non-dairy and vegan delicacies designed by Mark Hanna, an internationally known natural food chef. In addition, numerous healthy activities will be coupled with a spa, Olympia gym, three swimming pools, a casino, a disco, and more. For a taste of dry land, the ship will dock at several ports including San Juan, Puerto Rico; St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands; La Romana, Dominican Republic; and Grand Turk, Turks and Caicos Islands.
Prices begin at $1,175 per person double occupancy, with most food, classes, and activities included. For information or to purchase tickets, visit the Taste of Health website.
