Intro To Whole Foods Cooking ~ November 30, 2009 (2010 dates also available)
This basic intro class is a great way to get a foundation in the ease of preparing whole, nourishing meals from unprocessed, natural ingredients. This is a great class if you are new to the kitchen and aren’t quite ready to commit to a full 4 or 6 week program, and also if you did the extended programs and just need a little refresher or some kitchen inspiration. This class will provide a basic understanding into the importance of whole foods as, together, we create a complete meal from starter to dessert.
Healthy Desserts and Treats ~ December 15, 2009 (2010 dates also available)
This class is ideal for: parents who are trying to get their kids to eat healthier but still don’t want to deprive them of some treats now and then anyone on a restricted diet who suddenly finds themselves unable to eat wheat/gluten, dairy and sugar and are wondering what to do when the sweet tooth kicks in anyone who is up for a little guilt-free indulgence once in a while.
Using alternative flours, natural sweeteners and creativity, together we’ll create basic wholesome treats with a plethora (love the word plethora) of suggestions and optional add-ins on ways to modify the recipes to provide dozens of healthy treat options. We’ll be baking up cakes and cookies, baked granola bars and raw power bars, simple spreads and jams and perhaps a little ice cream. All, of course, gluten, dairy, sugar, corn and soy free.
4-Week Cooking Program ~ 4 Classes from November 12 to December 3, 2009 (2010 dates also available)
These unique cooking classes enable you to have a hands on cooking experience. In the relaxed and inspiring setting of an original artist’s loft, you will have the opportunity to play in the kitchen, make great food, learn about all sorts of health and nutritional issues, and ask any questions you may have. These small groups serve as an intimate social gathering where you get to meet new people and sit down together to a delicious, nutritious and healthful meal.
Using as much seasonal and local produce as possible, all recipes are whole foods, plant based, and vegetarian. We will explore alternative grains, raw foods, grain-free cooking, quality vegetarian protein, allergen free deliciousness, sprouting, fermenting, dehydrating, soaking, simmering, steaming, roasting, grilling, baking, and of course- eating! In each class, we make an appetizer, a soup, a salad, a side dish, a main course, and dessert. Participants are invited to bring containers to take home any leftovers.
