Expo West 2012: Best New Dairy-Free Products – Part 2

New Dairy-Free Products - Expo West 2012Alisa Fleming ~ Here we are, round two of the new (or new-to-me) dairy-free food products from Expo West 2012. Just in case you missed it, check out Expo West 2012 Dairy-Free Part 1 for the first 10 new products. Read on for picks 11 through 20 …

Divine Organics Artisan Stone Ground Nut- and Seed-Butters – Divine Organics has emerged as an organic, fair trade, and all around “green” chocolate company, but they are expanding their product line to include an abundance of coconut-based products, as well as a whole new group of “butters.” Keep an eye out for the following new vegan options from Divine Organics: Butter Coconut (a rich nut and coconut blend), Nutra-tella (pine nuts meet coconuts), Cashew Butter w/ Mulberries (with more coconut love), Pistachio Mulberry Halva (mulberries look like another new superfood trend!). Ziggy Marley’s Coco’Mon Flavored Coconut Oils – Just when you thought you’d see it all at Expo West, Ziggy Marley emerges with his own food products! Ziggy Marley’s line of USDA certified organic coconut oils are cold-pressed, unrefined, non-deodorized, and available in four flavors: Lemon Ginger, Curry, Orange Almond, and Original. They are all certified kosher parve, and are of course, dairy-free, gluten-free, and vegan. Company website: www.ziggymarleyorganics.com

Ziggy Marley’s Hemp Rules Hempseeds – Ziggy didn’t stop with coconuts, no indeed. For everyday snacking, he launched a line of seasoned hempseeds, available in Caribbean Crunch and Sea Salt & Pepper. These are also certified organic and contain just a handful of ingredients (with none of the top allergens). Company website: www.ziggymarleyorganics.com

Dr. Praeger’s All-Natural Froat Bars – While they won’t be winning any awards for best product name, these fruit & oat bars are Dr. Praeger’s first product in the breakfast category, and they sound pretty darn good. The base is oats, crisp rice, and honey, but they are jam-packed with all types of other goodies, including chia seeds, flax seeds, dark chocolate, green tea, and berries galore. Food for Life Ezekiel 4:9 Frozen Waffles – I mentioned these waffles in last year’s Expo West round-up, but alas, they haven’t yet made it to market. Fortunately, they finally have a release date planned … the waffles are scheduled to hit the freezer section of grocers in May 2012. They will come in flavors like Original, Golden Flax, and Blueberry. Company website: www.foodforlife.com

Amy’s Frozen Entrees (more new stuff!) – Amy’s Kitchen debuted and previewed several new additions to their product line, with a heavy emphasis on gluten-free. Alas, not all of the new products are dairy-free, but the following are reported to be: Gluten-Free Tofu Scramble Breakfast Wrap, Gluten-Free Indian Aloo Mattar Wrap, Gluten-Free Teriyaki Wrap, Gluten-Free Dairy-Free Vegetable Lasagna, and Gluten-Free Sandwich Rounds. Company website: www.amys.com

Food for Lovers Mayo, Gravy, and New Queso – Food for Lovers debuted their Spicy Vegan Queso at Expo West 2011, and they were back this year with three more new products: Mild Vegan Queso, Vegan Chipotle Mayo and Vegan Country Gravy. They are planning to start shipping these to stores soon. Company website: www.foodforlovers.com

Hilary’s Eat Well Veggie Burgers – Hillary offers two varieties, Adzuki Bean and Regular Veggie. Both are great options for those who want a vegan veggie burger that’s made without gluten or soy. They both use a combination of quinoa, millet, and sweet potato. Their products are also labeled as nut-free and GMO-free. Company website: www.hilaryseatwell.com

Vegenaise Flavored Sauces – Lest you think that Vegenaise is only good as a plain old mayo alternative, Follow Your Heart has released a whole slew of new products under the Vegenaise label. Tartar Sauce, Horseradish Sauce, and four new Gourmet Vegenaise Flavors: Barbecue, Roasted Garlic, Chipotle, and Pesto. These are of course vegan, but as an added bonus, they are all soy-free! Company website: www.followyourheart.com

Comfy House Puddings – Who knew that this little company has been around since 2007?! They featured four vegan puddings at Expo West that were reportedly quite excellent. The varieties include: Choco Bliss Chocolate Tapioca Pudding (w/ coconut milk & white chia seeds), B’nana Wave Banana and Coconut Pudding (w/ chia seeds & rice bran), Quinoa Bleu Quinoa and Blueberry Pudding (w/ coconut milk & red and white quinoa), and Brown & Wild Multigrain Rice Pudding (w/ coconut milk). All varieties are dairy-free and soy-free. Company website: www.comfyhousefoods.com
