Summary:

The handmade feel of these hefty bars confirms the all-natural goodness. Dense, chewy, and packed with delicious add-ins, our only wish is for a little more flavor oomph in the nut buttery, protein base.

I love the emerging hand-crafted bar trend, and was excited hear about Super Pop! I adore popcorn, and couldn’t wait to see how this dairy-free popcorn company was merging healthy convenience and one of my favorite snacks.

Super Pop! Superfood Bars - Made with organic puffed quinoa, nut butter, pea protein, and one with popcorn

But to my surprise, two of their newest concoctions don’t use popcorn at all. Super Pop! Superfood Snack Bars come in two types: Popcorn and Quinoa Puff. Both are made with all-natural, non-GMO, dairy-free ingredients and have a wonderful, handmade vibe. Thus far, we’ve sampled the following:

Dark Chocolate Almond Quinoa Puff Super Pop! Snack Bar

So much heftier than expected, I could savor just half of this bar for a fulfilling snack. When eaten all at once, it was actually a bit much, which isn’t a value statement that I make very often with bars. I really liked the dense, chewy texture with a generous smattering of little quinoa puffs. To top it off, this almond buttery bar is dotted with sweet, dairy-free chocolate chips, and the bottom side has a thick, hand-slathered chocolate coating. The only drawback was that the taste of the bar base didn’t fully grab me or Tony; it was surprisingly savory for the high sugar content, and didn’t pop with flavor. Perhaps it was the addition of pea protein and flax meal, or just a need for a pinch more salt.

Dark Chocolate PB Quinoa Puff Super Pop! Snack Bar

Nearly identical to the Dark Chocolate Almond flavor in heft, texture, and sweetness, but the magic of peanut butter seemed to accentuate both the scent and the flavor taking this bar to our top spot on the Super Pop! list. Again, for the higher sugars (14 grams) I had hoped it would taste just a bit sweeter overall, but still a nice blend. Personally, I would love it if they forgo the melty chocolate on the bottom, but balance it all out with a hint of additional honey and a few more chocolate chips throughout.

Blueberry Almond Popcorn Super Pop! Snack Bar

The popcorn variation made this the most rustic and unique of the Super Pop! bunch. It still had that same almond butter and protein base, but was even chewier with the addition of whole popped corn. It was still a little too sedated in overall sweetness, but the ample plump blueberries made this bar burst with fruity goodness.

I need to locate these. For once, the fruitier option is calling to me! On any regular day I’d be all for the Dark Chocolate Almond, but the Blueberry Almond bar picture is having me heavily salivating!
