Unfortunately, Qrunch Foods quietly slipped away from the market, and thus Qrunch Quinoa Breakfast Toastables are no longer available. I don’t have a comparable product to share, but quinoa fans might like our dairy-free quinoa recipes.
I can honestly say I had never seen nor tasted anything like Qrunch Toastables. I picked up a box of the Cinnamon-Vanilla at Whole Foods with limited expectations. But I quickly warmed to the nourishing appeal.
Some describe Qrunch Toastables as “hearty waffles,” but I’d call them very distant cousins at best. Rather, I think they’re thick and hearty like a slab of baked polenta, but just a touch more firm and “crusty.”
Tasting Notes for Qrunch Quinoa Breakfast Toastables
In my opinion, Qrunch Quinoa Breakfast Toastables have a perfect touch of sweetness to address those morning carb cravings without overdoing it. In fact, I was AMAZED to see that the Cinnamon-Vanillla has just 1 gram of sugar and 120 calories per Toastable! It was seriously the most filling 120 calories I have eaten in a long time.
Organic millet, quinoa, and amaranth top the ingredients – a nice balance of grains that keeps the quinoa bitterness from rearing it’s head. Qrunch recommends topping their Toastables with a drizzle of maple syrup, jam, or nut butter. I used a plain nut butter, because I didn’t think it needed any more sweetness. This made for several comforting, earthy breakfasts with a hot mug of tea.
My only complaint is that the Toastables are a bit fragile. With a name like that, I want to be able to fire them in the toaster, worry-free. I had to be very gentle though. Each grain-filled slab was just a misguided pop-up away from crumbling and breaking. Once prepared, I found them easiest (and the most fun!), to carefully eat out of hand like a slice of toast. When enjoyed like waffle, with a fork, it was a bit more of messy undertaking.
Qrunch Quinoa Breakfast Toastables come in four flavors: Original, Blueberry, Cinnamon Vanilla (pictured here), and Rich Maple. If you’re nervous about the idea of quinoa for breakfast (these are definitely for whole grain lovers), you may want to trial Qrunch Quinoa Burgers first. But obviously, I thought they were pretty tasty.

great
I LOVE these things! They’re so crispy, I just eat them plain after toasting! It’s a refreshing difference from toast.
Fabulous! Favorite Breakfast
They r my favorite go to breakfast. I pair a toastable with an easy over egg. Fabulous!! Only complaint is that they are disappearing from local stores here in Boulder. Why is that?
Lightly sweet with low sugars and calories
These unique whole grain slabs are reminiscent of polenta, but with the heartier blend of organic millet, quinoa, and amaranth. I was beyond impressed with the warm, lightly sweet, breakfast-worthy flavor and the unbelievably low sugars and calories – they’re seriously filling! The only catch was the execution. Though relatively cohesive, they required extra care in both preparation and consumption to keep extreme crumbling at bay.

I grew up eating quinoa and it was a trill to see Qrunch organics I like to keep a couple of boxes in the freezer specially when I don’t feel like making pancakes and used my fry pan in medium with very little Irish butter or coconut oil. Thank you for not using white or wheat flour. However, I like to learn to make them so when I’m in a mood of baking I may do it.
Thank you for your wonder addition to healthy breakfast

Delicious! Toaster setting wasn’t enough to heat them through, so I had to finish them off in the microwave. Very crumbly and hard to get out of the toaster. I had to turn the toaster upside down to get them out. But very filling, very good, very healthy. I just added a bit of maple syrup. Next time I’ll try adding some fresh fruit.
I had high expectations for these – I love their burgers but these left me really disappointed. I purchased blueberry and there isn’t any flavor or color reminiscent of even a tiny hint of blueberry. I won’t purchase these again. Super sad because again I really love the burgers.
they are delicious! yes the break easily but it is worth it. Hard to find them.

Agreed, too hard to find!
Where can I buy the breakfast quinoa crunchables in the 53704 zip code? I have tried a couple flavors and have now developed a taste for them but have been unable to locate any now.
I’m not sure. You would have to contact the company on this! I have an outstanding question with them myself on availability as I’m concerned they are discontinued.
I saw these over a year ago at my Jewel here in Chicago, but they had different (much older looking) packaging and I always stared at them wondering what they were like. They were a bit pricy for what you get in the box so I never purchased them, and now they don’t sell them anymore! They look great out-of-the-box though!
Hi Eva, I totally agree that they are a bit pricey – and I was concerned about paying so much when the calorie count is lower, but darn are these things filling! Especially with just a little nut butter on top. I asked the manufacturer about stocking and since they are changing the packaging, they are temporarily off the shelves in some areas, but should return.
Those look really fun! I wish they were a bit more sturdy – that would make them great for the kids. Still, i will have to check these out for myself! Thanks for sharing.
Yes, I think they aren’t great for little kids – you would definitely have a mess on your hands! 🙂
