We are heading into the beginning of chocolate season, and this year will be filled with delicious surprises. But before we get to some of the newer varieties, I realized that we haven’t fully covered some of the vetted options. Eli’s Earth Bars are among the ranks of the few and the proud, serving the dairy-free and vegan communities with three types of organic candy bars.
Yes, I said candy bars. Not simply chocolate dotted with nuts. We are talking dairy-free caramel, peanut butter, coconut and more. All of Eli’s Earth Bars are certified organic, vegan, and fair trade, PLUS 5% of all sales go to charitable children’s organizations. They come in three varieties…
The Celebrate Bar combines caramel and a good dose of coconut – something I’ve rarely tasted. it was quite good! The whole almonds on top seemed a little out of place, but did add to the looks of the bar. The overall flavor is excellent, particularly with that thick layer of sweet milky chocolate.
The Dream Big Bar has a Snicker’s vibe that I know my dad would adore. The peanut butter wasn’t as present in this one, making for more of caramel-peanut-chocolate combination (it has big peanut chunks). No nougat, but it isn’t missed.
The Treasure Bar is like a crunchy Reese’s. It breaks and looks like a Butterfinger, but the inside is more soft and chewy. I thought it was delicious, but actually wanted the peanut butter and chocolate parts sans the thin layer of caramel. It almost seemed unnecessary, confusing the overall flavor a bit. But I’m a purist when it comes to flavors, and like it simple!
