Ted’s Montana Grill makes it Easy to Dine without Dairy

    0
By Alisa Fleming on February 21, 2022 Dining Out, Suggested Restaurants, U.S. Restaurants

Updated February 2022! A reader named Amy emailed us years ago to share her excellent experience with Ted’s Montana Grill. Not only do they have allergen information and detailed ingredients on their website, but she said their staff is also allergen trained. This could vary by location, but when Amy visited, they were attentive, helpful, and reportedly cooked her dish separately to help avoid cross contamination. Today, we’re updating this post to be a helpful starter guide to the dairy-free options at Ted’s Montana Grill.

Ted's Montana Grill - Dairy-Free Menu Guide with gluten-free and vegan options

Ted’s Montana Grill Dairy-Free Menu Guide with Vegan & Custom Order Options

Ted’s Montana Grill is an American restaurant chain that was founded by media mogul and bison rancher Ted Turner. They serve a meat-heavy menu, with quite a few dairy-free choices, as noted below. Be aware of special order requirements in parentheses () next to the menu items, and see the Heads Up notes to help fill in the blanks.

Other Allergen & Dietary Notes: Please note that some steaks at Ted’s Montana Grill are cooked in butter, and several burgers and sandwiches contain cheese. So there is a heightened risk or cross-contamination on the grill. But as mentioned above, alert the staff to your allergen needs, so your food can be prepared separately. Most items listed below can be ordered without gluten, simply ask your server. For vegan options, see the Vegan Menu Guide at the bottom of this post.

    Starters

    • Phillip’s Island Crab Cake
    • Homemade Chips (no dip)
    • Karen’s “Flying-D” Bison Chili (no cheese)

Heads Up! Their slider buns do contain milk.

Heads Up! Make sure to clarify a dairy-free dressing with your salad order. The Onion Straws are made without milk, but the croutons contain milk. We are checking on the Creamy Basil Vinaigrette. It appears to be milk-free, and is listed in some places as made without milk, but in others as made with milk. Verify at the restaurant.
