Vitacost (Worldwide): A Favorite Online Shop for Special Diets and Deals

Vitacost is one of my personal favorites for dairy-free online shopping, supplements, and other personal care needs. Their prices are good and their shipping is quick. And their website offers an easy and pleasant shopping experience.

Vitacost - Guide to their deals, shipping, and special features for special dietsThis post may include affiliate links. The proceeds help to keep this site running, so I appreciate your support. I was not paid for this post, and do shop from Vitacost myself!

    What Vitacost Sells

Vitacost primarily sticks to shelf-stable items, and they do have notes online for “heat sensitive” items (like chocolate or probiotics). They recommend upgrading to overnight shipping for these types of products.

However, their shelf-stable selection is extensive, and almost everything is competitively priced. This is where you can find dairy-free coconut milk powder, creamers, mac and cheese, milk alternatives (all types), baking supplies, and much more.

They also have a huge inventory of supplements, personal care products, baby needs, and fitness products (like protein powders). This wider range of products makes it easier to meet the free shipping minimum.

    Vitacost Shipping

Vitacost has a warehouse in Las Vegas and one in Lexington, North Carolina to help ensure “fast & free delivery” throughout the U.S. You can actually visit their onsite stores at these locations. They aren’t big, but they do have some great deals. It was a fun little side trip for us on a visit to Las Vegas, and that store isn’t very far off of the strip.

They offer free standard shipping within the continental U.S. for orders of $49 or more (or $25 or more of Vitacost brand or other select brand products). This offer also applies to APO/FPO addresses.

Outside of the continental U.S., they have standard shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, U.S. Territories and Canada for a $9.99 flat rate. And they ship to over 160 other countries.

    Fantastic Shopping Features

I love the Specialty Diets section (pictured below), which allows you to simply browse or drill down based on your needs. They have categories for dairy-free, egg-free, gluten-free, peanut-free, soy-free, tree nut-free, vegan, paleo, organic, and non-GMO. You can pick one option or pick several if dealing with more than one dietary restriction.

And Vitacost very clearly lists ingredients for each product, nutrition facts, and any “may contain” statements for potential allergen cross-contamination. Everything is as transparent as possible.

    Deal Shopping on Vitacost

The Vitacost Brand of products is almost always a good price. Their line includes supplements, personal care, and a good selection of foods. I’ve bought and enjoyed their coconut oil on many occasions. But they also have a whole line up of baking supplies, nut butters, natural sweeteners, spices, and more. Most are dairy-free, but some aren’t or have “may contain” warnings (for potential cross contamination). Luckily, they are very transparent, as mentioned above.

They also have a Set & Save program (similar to Amazon’s Subscribe & Save) that gives you a 10% discount on every purchase. And there are special sections for browsing Clearance items and the latest Coupons and Discounts.
