Califia Farms Complete FAQs
Why Does it Only Contain 20% of the RDA for Calcium?
Califia Farms Complete actually contains 280 milligrams of calcium, just a smidgen under dairy milk, which contains around 300 milligrams. A while back, the FDA increased the recommended DV (daily value) of calcium used on the food labels from 1000 to 1300 milligrams. This is the baseline number that determines the percentage of the mineral in the food. For some reason, Califia actually uses 1400 as the DV. This makes the calcium percentage seem much smaller, since many of us are used to hearing that a glass of milk provides 30% of the daily value for calcium. Using Califia Farms calculation, a glass of milk has about 21% DV for calcium.
Why Does it Contain Oil?
protein itself is not very creamy. Fat is needed to emulsify with the protein to create a rich mouthfeel. It also increases the overall fat nutrient in this product.
Is the Vitamin D in this Product Vegan?
Yes, it is vitamin D2, not vitamin D3, which is usually from an animal source. According to the company, the product is vegan.
Is it Really Dairy Free?
Yes, it is! Ever since the launch of genetically engineered milk proteins, consumers have become wary of vegan products. And rightfully so! But we are a dairy-free website! The only time we talk about genetically engineered milk products is as a warning. All products featured in our review section are made without any dairy ingredients.
