Summary:

These creamy coconut butter-filled chocolate cups are surprisingly vegan AND paleo. They're also made with Rainforest Alliance Certified cacao and certified organic ingredients. The chocolate is very lightly sweet, which pairs well with the sweet, rich, and perfectly proportioned filling. Unfortunately, the Banana Cream variety lacked banana flavor and the coconut filling had a gritty texture. But the Caramel & Sea Salt won me over! It has a fantastic balance of sweet and salty along with a delicious caramel flavor and creamier finish.

With just 5 ingredients and 4 grams of sugar per cup, EatingEvolved Coconut Butter Cups are a decadent but healthier treat!

Tasting Notes for EatingEvolved Coconut Butter Cups

I purchased the following two flavors of EatingEvolved Coconut Butter Cups to sample.

Banana Cream

As an avid banana fan, I was so excited to find a chocolate that featured my favorite sweet fruit. And I was initially impressed by the generous amount of banana coconut butter filling. Each bite had the perfect ratio of creamy center to chocolate coating. However, I could barely detect the banana in this flavor. Every few bites I’d get a very subtle fruity hint, but it wasn’t the tropical infusion I had anticipated.

The filling also had a very gritty texture. It wasn’t a total turn off, but it also wasn’t a very pleasant mouth feel. To remedy the situation, I popped the second cup in the freezer. It was much more enjoyable that way. The chocolate had a nice snappy texture and the filling was more firm, but still remained soft. It provide a very pleasant contrast in consistency.

Caramel & Sea Salt

Although the Banana didn’t fully deliver on flavor, the Caramel & Sea Salt exceeded my expectations! The filling was a lot smoother and it had a nice salty caramel taste. Overall, the chocolate, caramel, salt balance was delicious, and the coconut butter was quite complementary. And again, the filling to chocolate ratio was perfect.

I would definitely enjoy these cups again and again! As you can see in the picture below, mine melted a bit. But it didn’t make then any less delicious. Although I did enjoy the second cup even more after freezing it for a few minutes to firm up.

  1. I scanned, but didn’t see corn, and that usually pops out since I’m allergic to it and dairy. I just want to verify, is there corn in this product?

    • Hi Amy, I don’t believe they contain corn, but you should definitely read the label / ingredients before purchase and check with the company on processes if potential cross contamination is a concern for you.
