Updated September 2022! In late 2018, I reported on the store brands of dairy-free ice cream that were popping up. Honestly, I didn’t want to get my hopes up that they would stick around, but most are holding strong, including Target’s line. In fact, they just updated and rebranded their entire selection. Archer Farms Non-Dairy has now become Favorite Day Non-Dairy Frozen Dessert! Don’t worry, the product itself really hasn’t changed, but the look and the price have with this value-oriented brand.
Favorite Day Non-Dairy Frozen Dessert adds Dairy-Free Value to Target
Their initial Archer Farms launch included seven flavors, and those same varieties are still available under the new brand. Nondairy Deliciousness!
I just tried the Caramel Cashew today 1/8 2023 & I am hooked! I am lactose intolerant and have not been able to find a good ice cream. I will definitely be going back to Target to try more flavors.
Love the forest berry popsicles
The berry popsicles are amazing. They taste just like a berry truffle. Very happy to have found these. On the other hand though the pints of ice cream contain tapioca this and that which cause a latex reaction. It is a known latex trigger as the plants contain a similar chemical reaction. Tapioca has cropped up in everything. It is just the current ingredient to add to everything even when there is no need for it to start with. Please use agar, rice starch, arrow root or some other alternative in your products.
if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
When it was “archer farms” almond ice cream alternative, it was amazing, and worth splurging once in a while for a treat. But since changing the name to “favorite day”, it’s pretty obvious the almond milk non dairy dessert has also had a recipe change as well. My favorite flavor is/was strawberry fudge, but now it doesn’t taste half as strawberry-ish, the fudge (which used to be large and thick hard swirls of sweet-n-salty dark chocolate (indescribably amazing) almost in every bite, is now far and few between, if you can find them. And the now fewer chunks of fresh strawberries are also very few and tasteless. Even the consistency of this frozen dessert has changed from tasting creamy like real “ice cream” to tasting like frozen “skim milk”. I won’t be treating myself to this any more.
It used to be something to look forward to, and now isn’t anything all that special, other than the strawberry chocolate combination, which no other brand has yet to seen fit to copy. Sorry, lower price does not make up for the lower quality. Think I’ll stick to popcicles for a treat.
To be fair, I complained to target.com, and they sent me a ten dollar target gift card, which I used to buy two replacements,(for the last two pints I bought that had almost no chocolate and not much flavor), but the quality was consistently as poor, and as bad as the previous ones I bought, so I won’t be complaining any more. I don’t want their gift cards. Just won’t buy this any more, not worth it. Don’t want it even if it’s free. Sorry Target, I like your store. I hope the rest of the favorite day product line hasn’t had sacrificed quality for a lower price.
If it ain’t broke, best not to fix it.
I got jipped
I bought the vanilla cake and cookie dough dairy free ice cream. The pint wasn’t even full. You could have put about another cup of ice cream in the container. Also, there was no cake bites or cookie dough in the entire pint. It was just vanilla ice cream and fudge swirl. Very disappointed.
Bad Quality Control
I purchased Vanilla Cake and Cookie.
There was a pice of broken hard plastic pipe inside . I have a picture.
Best nondairy ice cream ever!
I shopped at the new Target site Friday 6/18/21 & discovered an excellent & tasty nondairy ice cream since I’m lactose intolerant. My favorite one is the cashew caramel & plan to try caramel brownie.
Miss Archer Farms
I loved Archer Farms chocolate/peanut butter dairy free ice cream.
When they changed companies, I tried the new brand.
The recipe for this flavor had changed.
Am very disappointed with the new ice cream.
Response from Go Dairy Free
The recipe hasn’t changed.
Amazing
I can’t eat gluten, dairy or soy and hate the plain ice cream flavors especially the non dairy that taste like chalk but the vanilla cake and cookie is amazing! Ive missed cake batter ice cream since being gluten free and this made my day. Next maybe cherry ice cream with the same chocolate hard shell swirl?
Traditional flavors
It’s nice finding ice cream that I can finally eat. Was wondering if you would consider some traditional flavors. Example cookies & cream in vanilla, plain coffee ice cream, vanilla, just strawberries, plain chocolate. I only ask because I happen to like plain coffee ice cream, I miss not being able to buy it. There are others of us that would like traditional flavors?
Response from Go Dairy Free
Yes, I agree! Where are the classics!?
Good flavors, but very sweet!
We tired the Vanilla Cake & Cookie Dough and the Caramel Brownie and they were both very sweet. My husband loved them, and I liked them, but would like it if they knocked down the sweetness a notch or two. The cake/cookie dough variety has big chunks of chocolate, which surprised me, and generous balls of cookie dough throughout. For some reason, I thought the Caramel Brownie would be chocolate, but it’s vanilla-based with caramel sauce swirls and some big pieces of brownie – they could have been more generous with the brownies. It seemed a bit more like caramel swirl ice cream.
