A cow, a monkey, and a koala walk into a non-dairy plant … and Mooala Bananamilk is born. Okay, that might not be how it happened, but this unique dairy-free milk beverage with a crazy name and logo must have a good story behind it.
Not to be confused with banana-flavored milk, Mooala Bananamilk is a non-dairy beverage made with a real banana base. In fact, it’s made with bananas, sunflower seeds, and not much else. This rather virtuous drink is free of carrageenan, preservatives, and top allergens. And the Original flavor is even made without added sweeteners.
Mooala Bananamilk: All You Need to Know About This Dairy-Free Drink
I was curious how they would maintain a yellow banana drink without any real additives. The answer is, they didn’t. The Original beverage is a brownish color that doesn’t visually shout “banana!” But the dulled image doesn’t reflect the taste of Mooala Bananamilk.
We sampled the two initial flavors of Mooala Bananamilk, and were rather surprised by the flavor and consistency. You can read our tasting notes below, as well as the reviews from other consumers like you at the bottom of this post. Unsweetened Original
A wonderful banana scent emerged as I uncapped this beverage for the first time. However, the taste isn’t as boldly banana. It’s definitely banana, but it’s very light in fruit flavor with warm cinnamon in every sip. Sunflower seed milk can be quite overwhelming, but I think the banana neutralizes the sunflower seed base for a gently sweet beverage. The consistency is more like a very thin fruit smoothie than a creamy milk beverage, but I think it could be used for cereal, oatmeal and recipes.
My chief complaint is actually that the bottle is too big! Although they say that Mooala Bananamilk lasts seven days once opened, the taste was noticeably less fresh on day two. I think the lack of any preservatives (even ascorbic acid) causes the banana to degrade once opened. I’d prefer this in single serves.
Ingredients: filtered water, organic bananas, organic sunflower seeds, less than 2% of: calcium and potassium blend (calcium carbonate and potassium chloride), gellan gum, organic cinnamon.
Nutrition (per 1 cup): 60 calories, 3g fat, 9g carbs, 1g fiber, 4g sugars, 1g protein. Fortified with the following RDA percentages: 30% calcium.*
Chocolate
The chocolate was rich and deep with just the right amount of sweetness – it isn’t sugary at all. But the consistency was a little too “banana” for me. It was more like a drinkable smoothie than a chocolate milk. So I went to my in-house chocolate milk beverage expert: my husband. Tony said the underlying banana was a little too overpowering for his taste, and needed to be a little fresher.
In both of our opinions, this variety is good for smoothies and recipes, but it isn’t one that either of us would drink straight up. However, I do like that it only has 10 grams of sugar per cup (some of it from the bananas) and that it has a thicker consistency for recipes. I’ve also read that it works quite well in coffee.

Strawberry
We haven’t tried the strawberry yet, but it sounds like a delicious smoothie.
Ingredients: filtered water, organic bananas, organic strawberries, organic sunflower seeds, less than 2% of: calcium and potassium blend (calcium carbonate and potassium chloride), vegetable juice for color, pectin, monk fruit juice concentrate, organic strawberry flavor, gellan gum.

More Allergen Notes
Although the bottles do not have a voluntary “may contain” statement, Mooala Bananamilk is not produced in a dedicated facility. Here is what they state about their allergen protocols:
We use a rigorous CIP (clean-in-place) sterilization process on the equipment after running any allergens and then test each production run for the Major 8 allergens before releasing the product. This would alert us to any cross-contamination issues while the product is still in the facility.

Disgusting
1st we tried the keto creamer and we threw it in the trash. Next we just purchased the banana milk 2 big bottles. So disgusting to absolutely gross what a waste of money also poured down the drain
I like it
Yummy
Horrible Taste
I’m normally not picky on what I eat and drink. I love almond milk in general and Mooala almond milk is so so good. I saw this in the store today and there was only one left so I figured it must be good. I was really expecting a banana flavor and it was anything but. I wish I would’ve taken a small sip of it before pouring it over a whole bowl of cereal because it was so bad I couldn’t eat my cereal. I don’t know if the flavor of the cereal didn’t mesh with the milk or what. But I don’t want to try it by itself and don’t want my kids to try it either. I’ll stick to mooala almond milk though! Almond milk in general is where it’s at for me now.
Healthy &YUMMY alternative 😊
Not a fan of almond milk and it isn’t good for environment but better than taking baby cows milk… as for Mooala original banana milk… so happy I tried this! Saves me from buying regular bananas and I use this in my morning smoothies and in my grape nuts and Raisin Bran!
Love that this company Cares about us out here who r intolerant of animal abuse as well as, or, intolerant to dairy.
Thank you!!
The chocolate is great as a healthy post workout recovery drink
Yes, it has a strong banana flavor, but that’s not a bad thing. Bananas and chocolate complement each other perfectly. The thickness is almost smoothie like and feels nourishing and satisfying.
Send me my money back!
I purchased your banana/chocolate and banana/vanilla beverages, hoping for a new non-dairy drink with some redeeming value such as calcium, etc. I paid $4.99 per container. I prepared a glass of the “chocolate” one, took a large mouthful, and promptly dumped it in the sink. I never write negative reviews, but this drink did not have a pleasing flavor at all. The chocolate taste was bitter, and the banana flavor tasted like unripe bananas picked way before their time. I will not buy your product in the future, and would like my money refunded to me,

I love Mooala Banana Milk, especially the chocolate flavor! It makes a super quick and easy chia seed pudding 🙂
Ooh, that’s a delicious idea!
I just tried this too! My husband and I both agreed, not something we’d drink on its own but definitely pleasurable in baked goods and smoothies!
Thanks for sharing this Liz!
Thank you for getting down to all the facts for us! Always love hearing your opinion on things and I actually saw this the other day and was wondering about it. Maybe I’ll be trying it 🙂
I think you should! It’s such a wholesome option.
Thank you for the review on mooala bananamilk. As I love all four ingerdients. I prefer drinking a smooth “essence of” the flavor so to speak. I also appreciated the life span review. I do tend to have my non-dairy products for a week. All in all seems like a good concept.
Happy to help!
