Mori-nu Mates Pudding Mixes: Low-Fat, Dairy-Free, Vegan (DISCONTINUED)

By Alisa Fleming on December 3, 2014 Discontinued Products, Product Reviews

Mori-nu Mates Pudding Mixes were discontinued. See our Dairy-Free Pudding & Mousse Reviews for options that are currently available.

Unique and instant, Mori-nu Mates Pudding Mixes whip up in seconds with organic silken tofu.

Thickened with potato starch and sweetened with raw cane sugar, Mori-nu Mates Pudding Mixes easily transform into thick, creamy, dairy-free and vegan pudding.

Mori-nu Mates Pudding Mixes: Dairy-Free, Vegan, Low Fat Vanilla made with Organic Silken Tofu

Above is the Vanilla flavor, which is quite sweet with a notable vanilla hit, but the beany taste of the tofu shines through just a little too much for our tastes. To add contrast, I spiked it with pure peppermint extract and used it as a layer in a Chocolate-Peppermint Pudding Pie. Our tasters loved the peppermint flavor, and thought it really worked in this pie, but one wasn’t too fond of the consistency.

Chocolate Peppermint Layer Pie with Gluten-Free Wholly Wholesome Crust and Dairy-Free Mori-Nu Pudding Mixes

As for the Chocolate pudding mix, the cacao intensity was a little lackluster when made as is – pretty good, and quite sweet, but not chocolaty enough by our tastes. I opted to blend in 1/4 cup of melted dark dairy-free chocolate chips, which took the flavor up a big level and made for a base pie filling that everyone enjoyed.

Mori-nu Mates Pudding Mixes: Dairy-Free, Vegan, Low Fat ChocolateTo note, you need two Mori-nu Mates Pudding Mixes to fill a 9-inch pie, which can get a little pricey! So I still recommend this product most as a pudding with potential, single layer in a pie, or creamy ingredient for baked goods, ice cream, and parfaits.

Certifications: Mori-nu Mates Pudding Mixes are Certified Kosher Pareve.

Dietary Notes: By ingredients, Mori-nu Mates Pudding Mixes are dairy-free / non-dairy, egg-free, gluten-free, nut-free, peanut-free, vegan / plant-based, and vegetarian. Nonetheless, verify on the label and check with the company on their manufacturing processes for all varieties if potential allergen cross-contamination is an issue for you. Processes, ingredients, and labeling are subject to change at any time for any company / product.

I have used Mori Nu chocolate pudding mix for years in a kahlua cake recipe I make and my local health food store says it has been discontinued. I found it on your site. Do you know where I can order it? I could not even find it on Amazon. Thanks so much

Alas, I can’t find them either. Last time I checked they were just hard to find but not discontinued. Now I’m wondering if they have been discontinued.
