Sencha Naturals Matcha Latte Mixes with Organic Japanese Green Tea

    2
By Alisa Fleming on January 24, 2016 Dairy-Free Creamy Beverage Reviews, Product Reviews

Last year, I covered Sencha Naturals Matcha Latte Mixes in Allergic Living magazine (for print), but forgot to share them here! Time to rectify that situation with some details about this dreamy find.

Though I’m not a coffee drinker, I adore tea. And the idea of enjoying an indulgence that’s typically exclusive to those who a) consume dairy and b) love coffee, was simply too wonderful to pass up. Plus, each mix is made with just a handful of pure ingredients (including real spices and extracts), sweetened with coconut sugar, and enriched with coconut oil.

Tasting Notes for Sencha Naturals Matcha Latte Mixes

Sencha Naturals Matcha Latte Mixes can be enjoyed either hot or cold. It’s mighty cold out, so we went with hot in our taste-testings. With limited latte knowledge, I was expecting more of a creamy finish. Rather, each flavor had a rich and luxurious mouth-feel, but neither the appearance nor the flavor were milky in any way. Here are my flavor notes for each variety:

    Original

The taste is smooth, lightly rich, and gently sweet, with subtle coconut nuances against a notable green tea backdrop. Unique, grown-up and steep in natural flavor, this is not a sugary-sweet latte, but it is on the “treat” side for those of us who thoroughly enjoy green tea.

Sencha Naturals Matcha Latte Mixes Reviews and InfoIngredients: coconut oil powder, organic coconut sugar, soluble fiber, organic japanese matcha, green tea extract, vanilla extract, and stevia leaf extract.

Nutrition (per 30 grams): 150 calories, 9g fat, 18g carbs, 4g fiber, 6g sugars (includes 6g added sugars), 0g protein.*

    Tropical Mango

The fruity notes overwhelmed my senses as the hot water splashed down into this powdery green tea latte mix. But after stirring, the scent mellowed and the taste was pure indulgence. This had the same sugar content as the Original, but the mango extract makes it notably sweeter and seems to bring the coconut and matcha flavors together into a harmonious and somewhat addictive blend.

    Bombay Chai

The fragrant blend of cardamom, cinnamon and fennel is notably bold and assertive in this green tea latte mix option. Though I’m a big spice fan, the flavors somehow didn’t come together for me. I think some people might love this one, but it just wasn’t cohesive enough for my tastes.

Wow, what a treat! It’s still rare to find dairy-free latte mixes, let alone those made with matcha instead of coffee, so I’m definitely intrigued!
