Flavor: "New" Banana Nut Bread
The Banana Nut Bread flavor was true to name, combining the flavor of very sweet banana bread with the infamous Clif Bar texture (soft, slightly chewy, and soy rice crisps throughout). A few subtle differences were the dice bananas, chopped walnuts, and chocolate chips scattered about. Carrot cake was the former favorite of my husband (who in fact hates carrots), but I could see the Banana bread slipping in (as he loves banana bread). I thought this flavor was pleasant, and would consider re-purchasing.
Overall Clif Bar Review
Bars have become an everyday staple of western diets. Like so many others, I too have my regular ‘go to’ bar. Organic, hearty, sweet, and most importantly inexpensive ($.99 regular at Trader Joe’s), Clif Bar currently holds the crown as a pantry staple in our household. To be fair, when I first went completely dairy-free (label reading and all) Clif Bars were pretty much my only option. Almost every bar on the market at that time contained whey for protein or various milk products for a candy bar like coating. Even the notorious PowerBar contains dairy, although that is one bar I have no trouble living without. Although I do not get Clif Bar cravings, I do enjoy their various flavors, I find the texture pleasant, and these bars give me just the right amount of energy when I need it most. They are also insanely fortified to boot, with 30% of the RDI for Vitamin A, 20% for Calcium, and 100% for Vitamins E & C.
