Alden’s Organic Dairy-Free Ice Cream are Now Scooping in Seven Flavors

By Alisa Fleming on February 8, 2020 Dairy-Free Ice Cream Reviews, Product Reviews

Last Update on November 2021! Dairy-free consumers should feel lucky, because yet another ice cream company has launched exactly seven flavors of vegan ice cream (2021 Update: They’ve added an 8th flavor, Mocha Latte!). Alden’s Organic Dairy-Free Ice Cream has been packed into pints and is shipping across the U.S. in a range of classic and creatively indulgent varieties.

Alden’s Organic has been churning dairy ice cream for more than 15 years, and their parent company, Oregon Ice Cream, has been in business since 1938. But according to Joelle Simmons, the company’s SVP of Sales & Marketing, they are finally ready to scoop up a share of the non-dairy frozen dessert market.

Consumers are craving a dairy-free option that actually delivers an exceptional flavor filled experience. We saw an opportunity and worked through 29 variations to develop a more progressive, organic dairy-free recipe that upholds the high standards of our famous ice cream.

Alden's Dairy-Free Ice Cream Launches in Seven Flavors (2 not pictured!) We have the full details and ratings on these vegan pints.

Alden’s Organic Dairy-Free Ice Cream are Now Scooping in Seven Flavors

These vegan pints are on the lighter side of frozen dessert, and made with a blend of coconut oil, oat flour, brown rice, and pea protein. This may not sound appealing, but the company says it’s been crafted to be “creamy and melt-in-your-mouth amazing.” You be the judge! If you’ve tried any of these pints, leave your rating and review below.

And if you’re in an ice cream sandwich mood, we have a separate post on Alden’s Organic Dairy-Free Ice cream Sammies!

    Vanilla Bean

This is a mildly vanilla pint that’s good for complementing desserts. It isn’t too sweet or too bold on its own, and is ready to take on toppings, brownies, cookies, etc.

    More Allergen Notes

Alden’s also makes dairy ice cream, and they have shared the following allergen information.

All of our products are made on shared equipment, which sometimes processes milk, eggs, wheat, soy, tree nuts, and peanuts. We have a strict allergen control policy and work hard to prevent cross-contamination of allergens, but we do not test finished products for the presence of allergens unless the package clearly states the product is free of a specific allergen. Alden’s does test for the presence of dairy / milk in the Dairy Free products. Also, because they are Vegan certified, allergen testing is conducted so customers can feel confident that there is no cross contamination with milk.

First, the container was only 3/4 ths full. I wanted to like this dessert but tasted like ice milk, not creamy at all. Back to the drawing board.

My family and I have not been able to enjoy icecream sandwiches in years. Thanks to Sprouts we were able to purchase the caramel drizzle and the key lime. I must say they were so flavorful and now I’m going to be forced to buy this every trip to the store. Thanks for bringing such a joy to our hearts and belly!!

This is a good dairy-free ice cream. It isn’t as creamy as some, but the base flavor is good, and the additions are unique. We tried every flavor. My favorites were the Strawberry, Caramel Almond Crunch, and Cookie Crumble. The Strawberry is rich in fruity flavor, that a lot of other brands lack. There are also large pieces of dried strawberry thrown in for extra intensity. The salted caramel swirl in the Caramel Almond Crunch is AMAZING. It was generous in half the pint, but lacking in the bottom – I wanted more! The Cookie Crumble had great flavor balance, was a bit creamier than the others, and was generously littered with chocolate cookies. Delicious! They were all good, but those three stood out.

I tried the Muddy Brownie and it satisfied my craving for both; with the decadent chocolate ice cream consistency & the delicious chocolate brownie crumbles. This one is a winner!
