I’m happy to say, there are now several dairy-free frozen pizza brands on the market. But how many can say they are hand-tossed in a dedicated plant-based kitchen in NYC? Blackbird Vegan Frozen Pizzas are made with a traditional from-scratch dough, spread with house-made sauces, and sprinkled with Violife vegan cheese. Each variety is then topped with a selection of fresh vegetables, and some feature their very own seitan “meats.”

Underwhelming at best
I couldn’t get past the first bite. I had high hopes as it smelled delicious while cooking. Unfortunately I was disappointed by the Gooey almost slime like texture of the cheese ? (Or dough) which was so offputting. It felt as if I was eating a wet paper bag. Truly terrible.
New favorite vegan pizza!
Bought a sampler of four different pizzas, but that standout is the BBQ chick’n. Love it
Fancy Price, Fancy Pizza
To some of us with what we believe is discerning taste in food, without a serious crust, Pizza is just dough with whatever else it comes with. So it is with this one.
In BB’s case, a doubling of the cooking instructions found the pie ordinary all the way. This, after adding our own tomatoes and lots of garlic.
With fully 10 grams Sat Fat, how anyone could call this ‘low fat’ is a stretch. Ever since Kashi Pizza was withdrawn, we have not, try as we may, found a store bought pie anywhere near its equal.
Absolute BEST frozen pizza this NY'er has ever had!
I bought both the Kale & Supreme varieties on sale recently & was simply blown away by these. One of the BEST pizza crusts I have VERY had in all my 70+ years and very generous toppings for a frozen pizza. The sasuage on the supreme was PERFECT though the kale & mushroom did benefit from a serious sprinkle of red pepper flakes. Though I haven’t had a ‘non vegan’ pizza for over a decade these were simply the BEST frozen pizza I have ever had and held up very well against fresh pies from my fav local vegan pizza maker, which BTW has 4 various locations here on Long Island in NY, each has an entire Italian vegan menu along w’an entire ‘regular’ menu and one location is entirely Vegan!
Beats Daiya by a mile
Blackbird is my go-to brand for the rare times I buy a frozen pizza. While it’s true that Blackbird pizzas are on the small side, and they tend to be a little stingy with the toppings, the crust is closer to restaurant quality, and the flavors are good. I’ve had the Supreme (my fave) and Margherita (a little too plain to be exciting). I tend to add extra toppings to frozen pizzas anyway, like vegan parmesan, herbs, veg, etc. Whenever I see “Made in Brooklyn/NYC” on a product, I just know it’s going to cost more.
Amazing
By far the best frozen pizza I’ve ever had. Excellent crust and toppings.
Horrible!
Bought the Blackbird Ck’n Pizza. Have been a vegan for 15 years. This is the worst vegan pizza I have ever had! My husband also agrees with me. No taste, hardly any sauce, no plant based cheese, crust is hard and tastes like burnt toast and ch’n is stringy and has no taste.
