Califia Farms Cold Brew Coffee with Almond Milk in 7 Dairy-Free Flavors

By Alisa Fleming on August 10, 2013 Dairy-Free Creamy Beverage Reviews, Product Reviews

Califia Farms has definitely been a leader in cold brew dairy-free coffee drinks. They launched an entire range of caffeinated blends long before other brands even had their sights on coffeehouse trends. Some flavors of Califia Farms Cold Brew Coffee with Almond Milk have come and gone, but they have a pretty expansive line up that has persisted. And they’re all made with 100% Direct Trade Arabica Beans.

They offer big and small bottles, but for the most part, they’re all in different flavors! However, you can get the XX Espresso in both multi-serves and single-serves.

    Favorite iced mocha

Something has happened to my favorite Califia iced mocha! Not only is the bottle a lighter color but so is the coffee and now not real flavorful!

    Creamy, Chocolatey Coffee Goodness!

    Rated 5 out of 5
    September 6, 2020

I can’t even enjoy other brands of blended coffee anymore, Califia Farms Cold Brew Coffee with Almond Milk beverages are my favorite now. They are so very silky, smooth, rich and even my dairy drinking spouse prefers this over dairy blended coffee drinks – it is now his favorite.

Deep and dark, full-bodied and creamy, or sweet and chocolatey – whatever your craving, Califia Farms has coffee-lovers covered with these decadent, yet nutritious, almond milk iced coffees. Our family had no problem devouring all three of the original multi-serve flavors (Double Espresso, Cafe Latte and Mocha) in a week!

I noticed that all of Califia Farms beverages have Carageenan in them (except the Cold Brew Coffee). They aren’t the only ones though. Many companies call their food products “all natural” but have questionable ingredients like this. From all the research I have done, that particular food additive can be toxic and carcinogenic. For that reason I avoid all products with in it. Aren’t you concerned about consuming beverages or foods with this additive in it?

It is important to note that Carrageenan is not digestible and has no nutritional value. It is often used because it thickens and emulsifies products and it is often found even in organic and “natural” products.

It may seem that a simple product derived from seaweed should be non-menacing, and I wish it were. This article explains some of the potential problems:

I have tried Califia twice now and have enjoyed it way better than the Silk Almond milk! Went to Wholefoods this past weekend with my mom and was going to try out the espresso iced coffee one but ended up putting it back. Didn’t know they had a Caffe Latte version and hope that next time they will have it. What I also like about the possibility of this is that they use Cold Brewed coffee which is way more gentle on my tummy. I am now more excited to actually try these out.

I tried the almond coconut milk from Califia because I like that blend (Almond Breeze )the best, and I am having a bitter taste in my mouth. I will give other flavors a try but maybe it is the additives that are driving me nuts;(

This makes me very happy. I hope they have it at my chicago wf. Thanks!

    6. Karen Weaver on June 10, 2013 2:20 pm

Great review, Kylie! I will definitely be looking for these.

    7. Mary on June 10, 2013 10:34 am

I have not been this happy in a long time. I cannot wait to try one of these. Hope I can find them in Fort Worth soon. I was just waiting for the day when a coffee company would finally start using Almond milk. Awesomeness.
