Millions of people are on the hunt for their holy grail of healthy dairy-free yogurt, and Daiya Coconut Cream Yogurt Alternative is vying for consideration. Daiya’s initial dairy-free yogurt line didn’t quite make the consumer cut, but they’ve completely reformulated for taste and nutrition. They added coconut cream for a better consistency, upped the natural ingredients, and reduced the sugar.

“Consumers are making more mindful choices when it comes to food and we know that sugar reduction is a top priority for them,” said Michael Lynch, Interim CEO at Daiya, in a statement. So they reformulated their yogurt to contain 50 percent less sugar than the average vegan yogurt. Each single-serve contains just 3 to 9 grams of sugars. And they are sweetened solely with cane sugar – no alternative sweeteners added!

Daiya Coconut Cream Yogurt Alternatives Make Nutrition a Priority

We got the chance to try Daiya Duets when they were first released, which combine their coconut cream yogurt with crunchy granola. Those flavors are just a little different than this core line of coconut cream yogurt, but they use the same ingredients and base. And we were were impressed with the pleasing taste and creamy yogurt consistency. We will update with our own rating and review when we try these specific flavors. And you can leave your own rating and review below to help others too!

Canadian Daiya Yogurt!

These little babies are available in Canada!!
I have only seen Blueberry, Peach, and Cherry in the individual cups. I haven’t seen them in any container bigger.
Cherry is by far the best after a very good stir 🙂
They are sold at Superstore and Sobey’s Grocery stores for sure.
I really enjoy them. Tangy and thick, but expensive. Definitely a treat for me, or a go to camping breakfast.

I’m breastfeeding and having to cut dairy out of my diet because my LO has a dairy sensitivity ! But this yogurt alternative didn’t impress actually it had an odd taste close to play doh. I got the black cherry and won’t be buying it again!!! There’s better dairy alternative yogurts out there!

Yuck! Not good.

This was gross. There are much better dairy free yogurts out there. This one had both a weird texture (very solid/firm) and a weird flavor too that I did not enjoy and which left an unpleasant aftertaste. I would avoid this brand and go with others like Silk or So Delicious coconut milk yogurt.

Best dairy-free yogurt texture and taste to date

Before going plant-based I ate greek-style yogurt with granola and berries often. But I gave up yogurt because I couldn’t find a vegan version I liked until now. I have only tried this Daiya strawberry so far (I bought 5 different dairy-free brands, all strawberry to taste test) but so far it’s my favorite of all the dairy-free yogurts. I was hesitant because of the coconut base, but I don’t taste it at all. It’s not too sweet, the texture is thick like greek-style yogurt and it has the “tang” most vegan yogurts are missing. I am so happy!

Like creamy jello

May 15, 2019

I tried the black cherry flavor today and imo the texture was exactly like if jello was creamy-based. It was nothing like actual yogurt, but once I diluted it with some almond milk, it was great! Really tasty and I would buy it again and freeze it to make a yogurt pop. That’s how I think it would be best consumed..
Too much added sugar in my opinion

I’ve been trying to find a dairy substitute for yogurt, but this one isn’t it. I’ve been trying to place what it tastes like, and I’m settling on play-doh. I love coconut, and coconut milk but my lord is this disgusting.

No longer safe for people with rice allergies

We used to buy several containers of their yogurt weekly and now, because they added rice( which my daughter has a life-threatening allergy to), are unable to purchase it. We are on the lookout for another brand of non dairy yogurt alternative which is safe for our family. It is too bad companies like Daiya keep changing products which are excellent or like others that have to expand their flavor line to include common allergens like nuts or cheese. In an attempt to entice some new customers they actually lose a lot of the ones they originally had. You really have to wonder whether its really worth it!

Response from Go Dairy Free

That’s such a bummer Ann. I hope you find one that works well for your daughter. Rice can be tricky since yes, they are adding rice starch, flour, and protein to a lot of “allergy friendly” products.

Changed for the worse

I can’t believe that anyone would think this reformulated yogurt alternatives tastes better than the old version. They removed 90% of the flavor along with half the sugar. I use to buy 5-6 of the peach per week, but no more. Daiya may be saving money on fruit, but they’ve lost this customer.

Not too Bad

It was a little thicker than I expected, kind of like Greek yogurt. The flavor was good as well. I tried the Black Cherry one so I would get it again. My question is though, is there ever coupons available to these items. This stuff can be costly having to eat this way. 🙂

Robina

Response from Go Dairy Free

I hear you! Daiya hardly ever releases coupons. I would sign up for their newsletter as once in a blue moon they do sound out a coupon. You might want to contact them too. It can help to let them know that the cost is a bit prohibitive and what cost might be more reasonable for budgets.
