Kite Hill Dairy-Free Cream Cheese adds Smashing New Flavor

    0
By Alisa Fleming on September 21, 2021 Dairy-Free Cheese Substitute Reviews, Product Reviews

It’s become a mainstay in the dairy-free cheese department, but that doesn’t mean the makers of Kite Hill Cream Cheese Style Spread have stopped innovating. For the holiday season, they’re sweetening their collection with a Pumpkin Pie flavor. It begs to be slathered on bagels, or perhaps even transformed into a vegan pumpkin cheesecake.

Last year they added Garden Veggie to their year-round selection, and this year, the seasonal pumpkin pie brings them up to five flavors. But what many don’t know, is Kite Hill Cream Cheese also underwent a very minor reformulation. They had some issues with the product shelf life of their dairy-free cream cheese, so they’ve added mushroom extract and citric acid to help resolve that problem.

    Consistently Moldy product

Love their product and have not had the mold issues in the past like I do now. I’ve thrown away a lot of moldy product this year both cream cheese and yogurt. Both directly from the store and when I had it for only a few days. I’ve finally given up and am in search of a different product .

    Doesn't spread well, moldy quick

The texture leaves much to be desired and has an odd after taste. Also has been moldy upon initial opening, or after a few days. I’ve only bought a handful of times when options were very limited like on vacations. And every time I was left to just eat the bagel toasted with no spread.

    Couldn’t do it. also: mold

Didn’t work for us. Was able to get through the first snack of it but couldn’t make myself ever make another one. It’s almost like it’s too similar to regular cream cheese (just a bit thicker) to not taste the same, so it just tasted off – bad aftertaste, maybe tasted subtly a tiny bit sour or dead.

It also started turning pink-moldy really quick, a few days. And I’ve read about others getting it already moldy, sometimes repeatedly.

Disappointed after wonderful Miyoko’s cream cheese spreads. Kite Hill was bland—tried garlic— no cheesy tang, no herbs. May appeal to some if you just want mild spread, but more expensive without the fun. Won’t buy again

Hands down my favorite vegan cream cheese. Best flavor and texture without any added oils or junk.
