We’ve loved this brand for more than a decade, and are always excited to see what they come out with. This year, it’s Larabar Protein Bars. The ingredients are modeled after their classic bars, but are spiked with a little pea protein. Between the nuts and added protein, each bar balances out at 11 grams of protein.

Larabars with protein added
The title about sums these up! They taste like classic Larabars with the slightly drier texture and mouthfeel from pea protein. I was a big fan of their ALT bars (which were discontinued), so I had high hopes for these bars. I thought the ALT bars were better, but these aren’t bad if you like Larabars but want a little more protein. So far, I think the Apple Cobbler is my favorite, but the Almond Butter has chocolate chips in it which are tasty.
Okay, But I Still Miss the Alt Bars
I love Larabars and eat them several times a week, so I was really disappointed when they discontinued the ALT bars a couple of years ago. I loved the Peanut Butter flavor so much! I was excited to see these come out, but the flavor options are just kind of “meh” to me. While I’m sure I’m in the minority, sometimes I like my peanut butter without any chocolate. I still enjoyed the Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup bar, the only one I’ve tried so far, but wish it was without the chocolate. I’m not big on lemon, so I’ll pass on that one, but might try the apple next time they’re on sale, as they’re pricier than the traditional Larabars. I think I’ll stick to the normal Larabars, but still a good new addition.
