LuckyGuy Bakery Vegan Brownies Have a Hat Trick of Benefits

By Alisa Fleming on June 11, 2017 Dairy-Free Cookie & Brownie Reviews, Product Reviews

With Father’s Day approaching, I thought it was the perfect time to try the vegan brownies from LuckyGuy Bakery.

LuckyGuy Bakery Brownies are priced beyond my “any day” brownie budget, but they have some serious gift-worthy appeal. Despite the sometimes questionable handling during shipping, they arrived quickly and in perfect condition. Each weighty brownie was individually wrapped and packaged together in a small ribbon-adorned box.

Tasting Notes for LuckyGuy Bakery Vegan Brownies

LuckyGuy Vegan Bakery has a small assortment of flavors. But at this time they have just one dairy-free variety: The Hat Trick Brownie. It scores three points for being “vegan, gluten-free & delicious”, and it’s made without nuts and soy. However, there are brownies made with dairy, eggs, wheat, nuts, and soy in their facility.

    The Hat Trick Brownie

These brownies feel and look quite dense, so I was anticipating a somewhat fudgy experience.

But to my astonishment, they were more on the cake-y side. They are impressively rich for being egg free, and definitely brownie-like in texture, but not as moist as you might expect.

However, the even bigger surprise came in the taste. I took one bite and proclaimed, “whoa coffee!” Boldly infused with a java jolt, these brownies are not for the espresso timid. Fortunately, Tony adores his morning coffee, and greatly enjoyed these as a special gluten-free treat.

Like me, my father isn’t a coffee drinker. So this sweet treat wouldn’t make a suitable gift for him. But it seems I’ve found a good gift option for my husband in the future!

Since The Hat Trick Brownie isn’t labeled as mocha, espresso, or coffee, I did have to knock off a star. I personally hope that LuckyGuy Bakery comes out with a coffee-free, dairy-free version, and gives this brownie a suitable subtitle.

My husband bought one of these brownies for me for Valentines Day and it was so very delicious! I liked it so much, I just bought 2 for my best friend’s birthday! The coffee really makes the brownie extra rich, which is something that I really enjoy in my chocolate treats.

Impressively rich texture and deep espresso chocolate flavor

Without dairy, eggs, gluten, nuts, and soy, our hopes were not high for these specialty brownies. But this bakery delivered with an impressively rich texture and deep espresso chocolate flavor. Though dense, they’re a touch cake-y, with just a slightly notable difference in the flour mouth feel. Tony loved them, and the overwhelming coffee flavor kept me from stealing his stash. What a lucky guy.

      Dear Alisa,

Thank you so much for that wonderful review! We put coffee in all of our brownies to elevate the chocolate profile. I think you are spot on about adding a note to our label and product description about that – thank you for bringing it to our attention. We are working on additional treats that are allergy friendly and will certainly keep you apprised! Thanks again for the thoughtful and thorough review and gorgeous photos of our product. Have a Lucky Day!
