Springfield Creamery, the makers of Nancy’s Probiotic Foods, is a family owned Eugene, Oregon company that was founded in 1960. They are dedicated to their dairy product lines, but have also catered to dairy-free customers for years. Their Soy Yogurt was discontinued a few years ago, but they replaced it with a full range of non-dairy Nancy’s Oatmilk Yogurt. And this summer, they’ve decided to completely revamp their oatmilk line. It has a new look and a brand new recipe, with several ingredient changes.
Nancy’s Oatmilk Yogurt Transitions to All New Formula and Packaging
What are the changes in Nancy’s Oatmilk Yogurt? The company swapped the faba bean protein for chickpea protein, down-sized ever so slightly from 6 ounces to the standard 5.3 ounce singles (the multi-serves are still the same size), increased the coconut oil for a richer (and higher fat) consistency, and replaced the agar with gellan gum for thickening. But don’t worry, it’s still dairy-free and soy-free, contains live and active cultures, and has 30 to 50% less sugar than the leading plant-based yogurts (and many dairy yogurts).

More Allergen Notes
These yogurts are made without top allergens, and do not have a “may contain” statement for any allergens. The container we purchased actually had dairy-free, gluten-free, nut-free, and soy-free listed right on the package. However, they are made on shared equipment with dairy (we’re assuming yogurt). They do not specify certified gluten-free oats on the ingredients online, but it looks like they do on the containers. Double check in store and with the company, if needed.

The only plant-based yogurt that has that yogurty "tang"
I am so glad that I discovered this delicious yogurt at my local co-op. Since going vegan, I have tried many nondairy yogurts, but they have all been too sweet and haven’t had the tangy quality of dairy yogurt. Nancy’s Oatmilk yogurt tastes much more authentic, and is the only plant-based yogurt that makes a delicious raita to accompany Indian food. The fruity flavors are also delicious, and not cloyingly sweet.
Tried the Plain
I prefer to buy unsweetened, so I can sweeten only as needed. I like that the Plain contains no added sugars. It doesn’t even have a hint of sweetness, so in theory, you could use it for savory dishes too. It’s a little sour, not really tart, and the consistency is close to traditional yogurt, but the mouthfeel isn’t nearly as rich. It is fairly smooth though with just a bit of oatiness in the texture. I did try adding a little sweetener, but still wasn’t a big fan of the flavor. The flavored varieties might be more dialed in.
Gummy, Not So Yummy
Great ingredients, strong nutritional panel, but the texture is just not ideal. It’s very thick, yes, but in a way that’s very starchy and gummy, rather than naturally rich. I had the strawberry hibiscus and found the berry flavor somewhat light, but at least, it had a reasonable level of sweetness, which is hard to find in most fruited yogurts.
Tasted off
I so wanted to like it because of the ingredients and protein content but it tasted really off
Mild oatmilk flavor, with sour undertones.
I tried the vanilla. I like it. It has a mild oatmilk flavor, with sour undertones. Could be my fave dairy-free yogurt alternative yet.
