Planet Oat Oatmilk has always been a low sugar brand, and most of their flavors have “no added sugars” (see note below). But a few grams of sugars are produced in the processing of the oats. So they’ve launched two new “Unsweetened” varieties that each contain zero grams of total sugar to help meet every need.
When Planet Oat Oatmilk was first released, you might have thought this was a fledgling company, but it is produced by HP Hood. They’re a $2 billion, 170-year old dairy, and one of the largest food and beverage companies in the U.S. Like so many other dairy producers, HP Hood jumped into the fast-growing, non-dairy market. But unlike many of their competitors, it looks like they got it right the first time. Planet Oat Oatmilk has been met with rave reviews for it’s creamy consistency, fortification, performance in coffee, and naturally low-sugar taste.
Planet Oat Oatmilk Doubles Down on Low Sugar with New Unsweetened
Aside from the dark chocolate, all of the Planet Oat Oatmilk varieties are made without any added sugars (see note below). As mentioned, an enzymatic process used to make oatmilk (so it isn’t goopy like homemade versions!) breaks some of the carbohydrates down into sugars. So they aren’t sugar-free, but do not have any sugars added to the ingredients. Now, somehow, Planet Oat has managed to remove those last traces of oat sugar in their new, sugar-free, unsweetened varieties. And like their other flavors, these cartons are also generously fortified with vitamins and minerals.

Added Sugar in Planet Oat Oatmilk
It looks like some in-store cartons are now showing 4 grams of added sugars in the Extra Creamy, Original, and Vanilla varieties, despite no change in the total sugars, formula, or information on Planet Oat’s website. There was a ruling that oat milk companies must disclose “oat sugar” created during the production of oat milk (they use an enzymatic process that breaks some of the oat down into simpler carbohydrates), as added sugars. We assume that’s why cartons in store seem to have “added sugars” now. So technically, there still aren’t any types of sugar added to the formula, but sugar is created in the processing.

$2 special trial (Chocolate lover)
Makes a fantastic dark choc Malt (added a half Tspn) Malt milk powder.
A scoop of vanilla ice cream made my day.
All well, so much for the calories.
Taste is indeed fantastic!
Oat, the grain of choice
Oats contain beta -glucan ,this alone is reason to drink planet oat milk because it helps reduce cholesterol ,lower blood sugar, produces healthy stomach bacteria and makes you feel full. Planet oat milk has become THE”milk’’ of choice and one of my main beverages .The taste is closer to milk than any milk substitute I’ve ever tasted, and has a slightly unique taste of its own. The combination of really good taste and really diverse and healthy benefits make planet oats an exiting new discovery! Rare in today’s world!
smaller carton, same price
tastes great in my coffee, but very thin, requires much more than other brand. packaged in 52 oz container that looks like a half gallon until placed side by side. so 12 full ounces less than competitor and very thin: i will buy another brand.
Love it!
The original is the closest flavor to whole dairy milk that I’ve tried – and I’ve tried all that are available at stores in my vegan-friendly city. I have served it to friends and they were surprised it wasn’t dairy milk. The chocolate variety is in a class all its own – no other chocolate oat, soy, almond milk even comes close to Planet Oats Dark Chocolate.
Love this milk
My favorite non dairy drink however I only know of 1 market that sells it! And it is a little pricey, considering it’s not 1/2 gallon.
Best oat milk in the market
By far the best oat milk. It’s got a natural taste compared to other brands that add sugar which makes it too sweet. They also don’t add any oil, and it makes it have a dairy milk consistency. Neutral taste.
EXCELLENT MILK ALTERNATIVE!
My daughter needed a cows milk replacement due to diet issues. Oat milk is not only lower in fat and sugar then all the other alternatives but planet oat tastes the best by far!! Very happy with this brand just wish more places carried it! I buy my local grocery store out every week!
The first non dairy that my kids like
I have a milk loving 7 year old and this is the first non dairy that fooled her. She thought it was milk. I am hooked. It is awesome in coffee.
This is the best milk substitute
I have tried soy, almond, cashew, pea, and other oat milk products. Planet Oat is by far the best, but l have had problems with it, l have bought 14 half gallon cartons and literally half of the oat milks were thickened. The chocolate variety was never affected, but the vanilla and regular were. I began to purchase the milk in a different store, but the same result occurred. I am now afraid to purchase any more, but l do love your product.

(Editor Translation to English: The milk is very rich. But I would like to know why the label says it is not used as infant milk?)
