There are a lot of low-calorie, dairy-free ice creams emerging, but Snow Monkey Superfood Ice Treat shuns any type of funny business. They go wild with healthy ingredients in their exotic ice cream flavors, and avoid sugar alcohols. Each flavor is sweetened naturally with fruit and fruit juice, and a few varieties have a touch of maple syrup added.
Snow Monkey Wants You to Eat No Evil with their Dairy-Free Ice Cream
When I spotted Snow Monkey Superfood Ice Treat at Whole Foods, I assumed they had a wildlife conservation mission, like Endangered Species. But the image refers more to their banana base and “no evil” ingredients. In fact, the ingredient lists read like healthy smoothie recipes!

Additional Allergen Notes*
I asked the company about potential cross-contamination issues with allergens, since I was concerned that the “made in a facility” warning wasn’t the whole story. They shared the following information:
Our products are free from all 8 major allergens including gluten, dairy, soy, and nuts. They are also made in a dedicated nut-free facility. The only major allergen that is handled on the same line as our products is milk. However, our products undergo intensive allergen testing to ensure there is no traces of any of the major allergens both. This testing is conducted in the manufacturing facility as well as by a private, third party laboratory.

Great convenient frozen smoothie
If you are expecting ice cream, it isn’t. If, like me, you just want a frozen fruit dessert and are too lazy to make your own, this is it.
Matcha and Açaà are the best ones so far…
Not sure if I have a bad batch
I have the passion fruit and cacao and both were gritty and not flavorful at all. I asked a friend to try it and she suggested that maybe it was expired or something. I will ask Sprouts if I can return it.
Absolutely awful
I go dairy free and tried the Passion Fruit on a whim when I spotted it in the frozen food section. It was khaki green and tasted like burnt puréed peas. It ended up down the garbage disposal. Wish I had read the reviews first.
Thrilled with this dessert.
Go with the Passion Fruit! It’s wonderful. Good flavor, healthy ingredients, smooth texture. Definitely repurchasing.
Tasty
Love chocolate Snow Monkey. So happy it’s healthy, no sugar alcohols. I’ve only tried Chocolate and Mint. Love it.
snow monkey taste like weed!
The mint chocolate chip has an overwhelming taste of marijuana and not in a good way. I am so disappointed. I ate my ice cream cone dry. I did not enjoy any part of this ice cream at all. I will not even give any other flavors a chance, it was that bad for me. Heading back to Ben & Jerry’s non-dairy. Zero Stars if it was an option.
Will never buy again
Ugh I had tried the acai and found it alright just the consistency was rough and required microwaving to even get it out of the container. Then I bought the chocolate and boy was that ever a mistake. Nothing like chocolate except maybe a slight dark cacao aftertaste. Mainly tasted like rotten bananas. No amount of honey or chocolate syrup could save it
Not tasty
I have been plant based for years and this is a very bad tasting option. Go with Ben and Jerry’s instead. I took a few bites and threw away the rest of the chocolate mint chip snow monkey dessert. Really disappointed since this was so expensive. It shouldn’t be $7.99 since the base is made of banana, the cheapest thing!
Smells like paint and prune puree
I picked out a couple pints from Sprouts for a treat. My husband, who is far less picky than I am, took one bite and put the whole thing down the sink. I tried it and concurred. We had chocolate and chocolate mint chip. And I was very disappointed.
Had to spit it out!!
Mint chip, so bad!
