By ingredients, this recipe is dairy-free / non-dairy, egg-free, nut-free, peanut-free, vegan, plant-based, vegetarian, and optionally gluten-free.

Brown Gravy
  • 2 cups of vegetable broth
  • 1 tablespoon brewer’s yeast
  • 1 tablespoon Tamari
  • ¼ cup oil, olive is best
  • ¼ cup flour, whole wheat or garbanzo flour
  1. Heat oil in a frying pan, add the flour.
  2. Stir with a whisk until bubbling.
  3. Add broth a little at a time until the desired consistency.
  4. Add the yeast and tamari And stir well.
  5. If using garbanzo flour, add a little sweet basil for an unusual but satisfying taste.
