New Earth Balance Soymilk Appears in Whole Foods Market

Earth Balance SoymilkSmart Balance, the makers of the entire Earth Balance product line of non-dairy butter and nut butter, have launched Earth Balance Soymilk in four varieties: Original, Vanilla, Chocolate, and Unsweetened. The new soymilk is being touted as vegan, dairy-free (lactose-free / casein-free), gluten-free, and it is fortified with calcium, vitamin D and ALA omega-3s.  

Smart Balance Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Stephen Hughes stated, "We are thrilled to be partnering with Whole Foods, a retail industry leader in providing new and innovative products to health-conscious consumers, on the launch of our new Earth Balance™ Soymilk.  This new product joins the super-premium family of Earth Balance® branded products, including buttery spreads, shortenings and nut butters.  Importantly, it will provide consumers with the only refrigerated soy milk product in the market that is both organic and Non-GMO Project certified."  

Currently, Earth Balance Organic Soymilk is only available at Whole Foods. It can be found in half-gallon cartons in the refrigerated section.

I am virtually addicted to Earth Balance Organic Chocolate Soymilk, which I make into the simplest dessert — I just pour about a half cup into a plastic container and freeze it till it’s got a sherbet-like consistency. I eat approximately two cups of the soy milk over the course of the evening.

    It seems like a healthy, non-fattening dessert. But I noticed that “dried cane sugar” is the second ingredient listed and I’m worried that makes it less healthy and more fattening. (I don’t have any health problems that would be effected by sugar.) I’d like to find out if it’s still a healthy and relatively non-fattening dessert.
