Another smoothie recipe? Well, if there is one thing we’ve learned in testing the submissions to our most recent recipe contest, it’s that creating a good new smoothie recipe does take a little finesse. We’ve tested numerous beverages and several simply fell short, but these Cherry Blossom Smoothies were a strangely addictive delight. The recipe was submitted by Leigh-Ann Kearley as a Sippable entry in the BIG Snackable Recipe Contest (entries are now closed, but the winners will be announced on that post!).
Alisa’s Notes
Since I have tested and approved this recipe for cherry blossom smoothies as one I would repeat, I’ve added it to the “Alisa’s Recipes” section. Here are my personal notes on the recipe:
Sweetener: I used 8 drops of pure stevia extract to sweeten, which worked out wonderfully, but I think that 1 to 2 teaspoons of honey or agave nectar or even 1 to 2 tablespoons of vanilla dairy-free protein powder would also be good sweetener options.
Chocolate Touch: Since this recipe is inspired by the popular Canadian confection known as Cherry Blossom Candy Bars, I thought it well themed to top the smoothies with shaved dairy-free chocolate. They are delicious without the added garnish, but chocolate never hurts.
Salt? I used a peanut butter that was unsalted, so I added a pinch of salt, which was a welcome addition to the flavor.

In the ingredients list you have listed dairy free vanilla cultured coconut milk. I was wondering what that was. In directions yogurt is mentioned. Is that what you mean by the cultured milk ? If so you should say it’s yogurt in the ingredient list. It looks good but seeing there’s is Peanut Butter, ( which I like ) is in there was thinking that was an odd ingredient with ?. But I’ll,try it.so if you are saying to use coconut yogurt can I substitute with a dairy coconut yogurt. Only reason I ask is yogurt over all is real expensive. The coconut yogurt is even more expensive and I live in Hawaii so even more expensive. Maybe you could provide a coconut milk yogurt recipe, since I make my own coconut milk.????❤️
Hi Jennifer, “cultured coconut milk” is the actual term used by many brands rather than yogurt – to avoid legalities – which is why I’m specific that way on the ingredients. It is dairy-free coconut-based yogurt as far as you and I are concerned 🙂

I love the name and the combination of flavors! You hit this one out of the park!
This really sounds insanely good. Decadent and refreshing at the same time. I should try out adding coconut extract to more things- I bet that makes the flavors of this really pop! Especially with the touch of salt!
It was my first time using coconut extract and I loved it!
These look so decadent, yummy!
This looks so wonderful! The color is absolutely gorgeous!
This is a very tempting recipe for me. I’m lactose intolerant and I generally just take a lactaid pill and don’t worry too much about diary, but I’ve been wanting to figure out ways to eliminate dairy and the lactaid pills. I need to get more almond milk and coconut milk into my diet. I think I’ll start with this delicious looking smoothie!
I hear you Lisa – taking pills just to eat something definitely isn’t fun, and with lactase, you usually have to continue increasing the dosage with time.
Oh wow, this looks absolutely delicious!
I definitely want to try this recipe, I love the blend of dark cherries with coconut!
You are seriously the queen of delicious, dairy-free smoothies! It’s only lunch time, and I’m dreaming of this for breakfast tomorrow! Pinned!
