Amazing Grass Organic SuperFood Bars (DISCONTINUED)

    0
By Alisa Fleming on February 20, 2009 Discontinued Products, Product Reviews

Amazing Grass no longer makes SuperFood Bars, but they still make Amazing Grass Green SuperFood and Amazing Grass Protein Superfood powders.

My favorite beverage booster is definitely the Chocolate SuperFood from Amazing Grass.  So, when they came out with a new line of Amazing Grass Organic SuperFood Bars, I was very excited … but apprehensive. The idea of powdered greens in my morning fruit or chocolate smoothie didn’t frighten me, but I was a bit concerned that these new bars might taste a bit too green, if you know what I mean.

Luckily, I couldn’t have been more wrong.  I really, really liked them. In fact, I think I may have found my new favorite energy bar!

Tasting Notes for Amazing Grass Organic Superfood Bars

Currently available in six flavors, each bar is packed with wholesome energizing nutrients. A couple of the flavors that we had tried were discontinued. But the Original Green Superfood Bar is still available!

    Original

The texture of the Original Amazing Grass Green Superfood Bar was Larabar-esque, only less chewy, a bit softer … quite nice really as they didn’t threaten to stick to my teeth. Bits of nuts throughout added some chunky interest to the overall taste and feel, without overwhelming. As for the taste, they were lightly sweet, but not sugary. I would say a notch or two sweeter than a Larabar or Nectar bar, as evidenced by the addition of some agave nectar in the ingredient list. Speaking of ingredients, OH MY!  This bar read like a who’s who of the “top ten healthiest foods” lists.

As mentioned, this bar won the “new favorite” award from me, but as to be expected from my date-averse husband, they didn’t do it for him.
