Updated in 2021! It can be hard to find “safe” dairy-free chocolate chips, let alone soy-free (no soy lecithin) and nut-free (with no nuts on the line) ones. But Enjoy Life Chocolate Chips cover the bases. They’re even allergy-tested, and now come in four varieties: Dark Morsels, Semi-Sweet Mini Chips, Semi-Sweet Mega Chunks, and new creamy Ricemilk Morsels.
Enjoy Life Chocolate Chips Now in Dark, Semi-Sweet, and Rich Ricemilk
Both the Ricemilk Morsels and the Dark Morsels have slightly different formulas from Enjoy Life’s Ricemilk Chocolate Bars and Dark Chocolate Bars, respectively. Presumably this is to help them perform better in baking. But it does mean they have a slightly different taste and mouthfeel. We have the details on the chocolate chips below, and you can rate them in the review section that follows.
Ricemilk Chocolate Morsels
Unbelievably, these “rich and creamy” chocolate chips are made with just three simple ingredients, and don’t contain a “milk” or substitute ingredient of any kind.
Ingredients: unsweetened chocolate, cocoa butter, dried rice syrup.*
Nutrition (per 1 tablespoon): 80 calories, 5g fat, 10g carbs, 1g fiber, 7g sugars (includes 7g added sugars), 0g protein.*
Mini Chocolate Chips (also available in Bulk Sizes)
Every time I crack open a bag of these little gems, I’m comforted with the familiar scent and pleasing taste of pure semi-sweet chocolate. It makes me wonder why a manufacturer would add lecithin, butterfat, milk, or any other allergens for that matter. I used to lean on full-size morsels, but now prefer these dairy-free mini chocolate chips for many recipes. They’re perfect for making things like meringues, dairy-free ice cream, and homemade chewy granola bars. And they melt more evenly and quickly when making chocolate covered treats.
Ingredients: cane sugar, unsweetened chocolate, cocoa butter.*
Nutrition (per 1 tablespoon): 80 calories, 5g fat, 9g carbs, 1g fiber, 7g sugars (includes 7g added sugars), 1g protein.*
Semi-Sweet Mega Chunks (also available in Bulk Sizes)
Shaped like little gold bars, these much more substantial morsels are a true treat in brownies, cookies, and no bake cookies, where jumbo bites of chocolate add to the indulgence. The semi-sweet chocolate itself is identical to the Minis in taste, but it has a lot more presence. In our house, these chunks are also enjoyed frequently as an afternoon pick-me-up. (We wish these were available in snack packs!)

Dark Chocolate Morsels (also available in Bulk Sizes)
These morsels are classically sized chocolate chips made with 69% cacao for a richer taste. We thought they were still mild enough for kids to love, but they do have a more grown-up vibe. They aren’t quite as smooth in flavor as Enjoy Life Dark Chocolate Bars (as mentioned above, the ingredients are a touch different), but they do add a nice contrast to sweet and healthier recipes. I use them to make cookie bars, trail mix, healthy muffins, and edible cookie dough and

These have made my life so much easier
Just as good as Nestle Toll House
I have used these in my baking, including melting for frosting, fudge, etc. I can honestly saY MY KIDS CANNOT TELL THEY ARE NOT TOLL HOUSE!! I was pleasantly surprised by how well they hold up in baking, but they taste great as on their own!!
A staple in our house
I’ve been able to count on Enjoy Life chocolate chips for years. I trust them for allergen safety, quality dairy-free ingredients, and taste. They work great in baking, and my husband and I devour the chocolate chunks as a treat. I love the mini chips for all types of recipes – they infuse perfect little bites of semi-sweet chocolate throughout. And I lean on the dark chocolate chips when going for less sweet. No one can tell that these aren’t “classic” chocolate chips.
