Kite Hill Greek Style Yogurt is in the Thick of Dairy-Free Alternatives

    0
By Alisa Fleming on November 11, 2019 Dairy-Free Yogurt Reviews, Product Reviews

We recently updated our Kite Hill Almond Milk Yogurt post, and I realized that we didn’t have one up for their Greek-Style yogurt. It’s a very similar product, but Kite Hill Greek Style Yogurt boasts a richer consistency, higher fiber, and even more protein. It also comes in two unsweetened varieties for yogurt lovers who are shunning both dairy and sugar.

Kite Hill Greek Style Yogurt was launched near the end of 2017, and still hasn’t gained huge distribution. But you can find it at many natural food stores in the U.S.

Kite Hill Greek Style Yogurt (made with almond milk) Review and Info - dairy-free, vegan, paleo-friendly, healthy yogurt in several almond-based flavors. We have ingredients, ratings, and more!

Kite Hill Greek Style Yogurt is in the Thick of Dairy-Free Alternatives

Kite Hill’s Greek Style Yogurt is similar to their Classic Almond Yogurt line, but it’s free of xanthan gum, and contains tapioca starch and pectin for extra thickening power. Even though it’s higher in protein, but lower in fat, it doesn’t seem to contain any added protein. If you’ve tried this product, leave your rating and review below!

The New Formula taste like mold!

    Rated 1 out of 5
    May 19, 2022

I used to love the old Greek Style yogurt, it was actually my favorite. I bought the new formula without even noticing and I tried it with some somewhat old granola I had in my pantry. The second I tried it I had to spit everything out because it tasted like mold but I thought it was the granola so I threw it all out. (rip granola 😢) I went to try the yogurt again the next day and turned out it was the yogurt that tasted moldy. It’s the most disgusting thing I’ve ever tasted! Who at headquarters tastes and approves the final product and wth is going on with their taste buds?! I literally thought I had just gotten a bad container until I read other reviews. Anyway I’m sad that my favorite yogurt was ruined, it’s such a travesty.

    "New formula" is terrible

    Rated 1 out of 5
    May 7, 2022

Just spent $40 on plain and vanilla because I really used to like this stuff. Didn’t notice the “New Formula” notice on the label. They took out the pectin, locust bean gum, and agar thickeners (so now you have to stir it because it separates) and they added “Soy Protein Isolate” as the second ingredient instead (to give it that wonderful chalky/powdery taste) so that they don’t have to concentraye the almond milk for the rich, thick protein boost of Greek yogurt. I want my money back.

Half-full package with protein powder taste

    Rated 3 out of 5
    April 17, 2022

It fit the bill – I needed a quick protein snack on the run. So I picked up a plain, unsweetened vanilla from Whole Foods. It had a bit of a protein-powder taste – not bad, but not yummy either. A little tangy and chalky, also runny. I had to mix it as it was separated. I was surprised that the package was only half full and wondered whether mine had been tampered with. I’ll give it another try, but unless I got a bad one the first time I won’t plan to give it a third try.

This is the most disgusting thing I've ever eaten

I am so disappointed by this yogurt. I put one spoonful into my mouth and immediately spit it out. It’s that bad. I wish it wasn’t, but sadly it is. It tastes like dead almonds threw a party in your mouth.

    Looked like hummus

    Rated 1 out of 5
    May 14, 2021

I was really disappointed! My use by date was still a week away. When I opened to container it looked like hummus. It wasn’t creamy at all, even after a good stir. It didn’t take like it was bad, and it didn’t smell or have liquid, it was just a dry hummus consistency. I ended up throwing it out, along with the beautiful fresh fruit I had added.

I tried the Greek vanilla unsweetened and I must say that it is the first vegan yogurt that made me not miss normal yogurt at all.

    I was hopeful

I cannot get over the chalky taste of this yogurt. I sort of got used to it as I finished the cup, but that fist spoonful was jolting. The texture is ok, not thick like greek yogurt. I was hopeful, given their other amazing products. Perhaps their coconut-based yogurt is better? For a plant-based yogurt, I much prefer Siggis for taste, flavor and texture.
