So Delicious Almondmilk Beverages are Back … for a Third Time (DISCONTINUED)

    4
By Alisa Fleming on January 11, 2018 Discontinued Products, Product Reviews

Danone did discontinue So Delicious Almondmilk … again. Under the So Delicious name, they only have Coconut Milk Beverage available. However, they do still make Silk Almondmilk.

Over the years, So Delicious Almondmilk has come and gone more than once. I’m not sure why that product line hasn’t had more staying power, but they keep trying. Hopefully, the third time really is a charm, because we’d hate to lose this option again.

The latest reincarnation of So Delicious Almondmilk includes basic almond milk varieties for stocking your pantry and “clean” almond-cashew milk blends that are sold refrigerated. They all work well for recipes or sipping straight up.

So Delicious Almondmilk Reviews and Info - comes in almond and almond-cashew varieties. All dairy-free and vegan, with shelf-stable and refrigerated options.

So Delicious Almondmilk Beverages are Back … for a Third Time

I didn’t keep a record of the ingredients in their prior formulas, so I can’t tell you exactly how they’ve changed. We liked it before, but haven’t tried these newer bottles and cartons. If you try them, be sure to leave your rating and review below! It helps others make an informed purchasing decision. That said, I do have some more information.

    Organic Unsweetened Almondmilk with Cashew

This organic, refrigerated product is one of So Delicious’s purest dairy-free milk beverage offerings. They basically use just nuts with just a little thickener and flavor since it’s a lighter blend and to keep it emulsified. It isn’t fortified.

So Delicious Almondmilk Reviews and Info - comes in almond and almond-cashew varieties. All dairy-free and vegan, with shelf-stable and refrigerated options.Ingredients: organic almondmilk (filtered water, organic almonds), organic cashews, sea salt, gellan gum, natural flavor. contains cashew and almond.

    Nutrition (per 1 cup): 35 calories, 3g fat, 1g carbs, <1g fiber, 0g sugars, 1g protein.*

    Organic Vanilla Almondmilk with Cashew

Like the Unsweetened, the Organic Vanilla is made with simple ingredients and isn’t fortified. It’s much lower in sugar than most vanilla almond milks on the market, but has just enough to complement the vanilla.

So Delicious Almondmilk Reviews and Info - comes in almond and almond-cashew varieties. All dairy-free and vegan, with shelf-stable and refrigerated options.Ingredients: organic almondmilk (filtered water, organic almonds), organic cane sugar, organic cashews, sea salt, gellan gum, vanilla extract. contains cashew and almond.

    Nutrition (per 1 cup): 50 calories, 3g fat, 7g carbs, 0g fiber, 5g sugars, 1g protein.*

    Unsweetened Almondmilk

This is more like the original So Delicious almondmilk from way back when. It’s made with relatively simple ingredients, but is shelf-stable and fortified.

So Delicious Almondmilk Reviews and Info - comes in almond and almond-cashew varieties. All dairy-free and vegan, with shelf-stable and refrigerated options.Ingredients: almondmilk (filtered water, almonds), vitamin and mineral blend (calcium carbonate, vitamin e acetate, vitamin a palmitate, vitamin d2), sea salt, sunflower lecithin, gellan gum, locust bean gum, ascorbic acid (to protect freshness), natural flavor. contains: almond.

Nutrition (per 1 cup): 30 calories, 2.5g fat, 1g carbs, 0g fiber, 0g sugars, <1g protein. Each serving is fortified with the following RDA percentages: 10% vitamin D, 35% calcium, 15% vitamin A, 25% vitamin E.*

    Vanilla Almondmilk

This is the vanilla version of their non-organic, shelf-stable line, so it’s also fortified. And it’s a little sweeter than their organic vanilla almond-cashew blend.

So Delicious Almondmilk Reviews and Info - comes in almond and almond-cashew varieties. All dairy-free and vegan, with shelf-stable and refrigerated options.Ingredients: almondmilk (filtered water, almonds), cane sugar, vitamin and mineral blend (calcium carbonate, vitamin e acetate, vitamin a palmitate, vitamin d2), sea salt, sunflower lecithin, gellan gum, locust bean gum, ascorbic acid (to protect freshness), natural flavor. contains: almond.

Nutrition (per 1 cup): 80 calories, 2.5g fat, 13g carbs, 0g fiber, 12g sugars, <1g protein. Each serving is fortified with the following RDA percentages: 10% vitamin D, 35% calcium, 15% vitamin A, 25% vitamin E.*

    More Allergen Notes

So Delicious does make some of their products in a dairy-free facility, but not the milk beverages. However, they do have allergen protocols in place to prevent cross-contamination issues.

    What Others Are Saying ...

Versatile and good for regular use

Perhaps a little backward in terms of product development, this snazzy line of “everyday” almondmilk beverages has come to fruition many years after the company’s protein-enhanced almond milks. But, it was worth the wait. The new line is carrageenan-free and has a nutrition label that will be pleasing to most. As for the taste, the Walnut Blend was a surprise favorite, the Vanilla was unbeatable with such low sugars, and the Unsweetened proved its versatility. The Coconut Blend didn’t win us over, but who cares – we loved the other three! The consistencies range from skim to 1% in comparison, not robustly creamy, but good for regular use.

I just found this product and I love it. Are they really discontinuing it?

      • Alisa Fleming on April 8, 2019 3:42 pm

Hi Carol, they discontinued this particular line and then recently reintroduced the almondmilk beverages – slightly different I think. I need to update with the new ones!

    2. Liz S. on February 23, 2016 3:19 pm

I’m SO so glad that they’re finally transitioning into being carrageenan-free. I wish even more companies would follow suit.

      • Alisa Fleming on February 24, 2016 7:37 am

From what I’ve been told regarding the product development, it is a really tough transition, so I’m not surprised so many milk makers are going slow with this. But they are determined at So Delicious to put the best out!
