So Delicious Coconut Milk Yogurt Still Dazzles in a Dozen Flavors

A couple years ago, So Delicious reformulated their coconut milk yogurt to remove the carrageenan. The new recipe had some textural issues, but it seems they have smoothed things out. So today I’m updating our post with their most recent packaging, ingredients, nutrition facts, flavors, and more. This is our reader-rich format, so that you can get all of the information you need and leave your own rating and review below!

Tasting Notes for So Delicious Dairy Free Coconut Milk Yogurt

I love the packaging of this yogurt – even the single serves. They stack easily and have a lower profile for shorter shelves and drawers in the refrigerator, and the “eco-friendly” tops can be closed easily – if you don’t rip it when opening (which does happen!).

For me, this is a good staple dairy alternative. I’ve been buying the plain unsweetened So Delicious coconut milk yogurt for many years. It works well in sweet and savory recipes, is allergy-friendly (for recipe testing), and it takes well to sweeteners. I prefer just adding a little of my own sweetener to taste, as most yogurts contain more sugar than my stomach can handle in the morning. Some brands of unsweetened dairy-free yogurt really don’t meld well when sweetened at home, but this one is seamless whether I use stevia or honey. But please do leave your own review below! It helps others make an informed purchasing decision.

As a heads up, the live and active cultures used in So Delicious Coconut Milk Yogurt are grown on a plant-based medium (coconuts!). And they include the following: L. Bulgaricus, S. Thermophilus, L. Rhamnosus, L. Acidophilus, Bif. Bifidum, and Bif. Animalis.

I eat the vanilla every day with unsweetened coconut flakes and nuts/seeds/craisins. It is a delicious snack or breakfast/lunch.

As someone who is both lactose intolerant and diabetic the unsweetened is wonderful especially when mixed with frozen fruit, stevia, and extract.

Best non-dairy yogurt

This is very delicious yogurt. I am lactose intolerant and this product is very good and filling. I have no problems digesting this yogurt. I just wish it was a little less expensive. I have tried the peach, strawberry, key lime, blueberry and strawberry banana liked them all.

Gritty texture

4.0 rating
January 15, 2020

I just discovered So Delicious yogurt. I tried the raspberry and strawberry first and thought they were delicious. I didn’t get that “ugh I can’t finish this-I feel like I’m going to gag if I take one more bite” feeling like I do with other yogurts, so that was a plus! So I went back and got the vanilla (sweetened). Unfortunately it was not smooth or creamy. It was kinda gritty and had the texture of cottage cheese, but smaller chunks. It tasted fine. I opened another container and it was the same. Bummer. I really wanted to love these. I’ll let the company know. Thanks for the link included in the previous comment!

Strawberry has a Horrible Aftertaste

2.0 rating

I still need to try the plain flavor, hopefully that will be better. The strawberry has a weird chemical aftertaste. I need to try the plain to see if it is just that flavor or something in the yogurt. Also left my throat feeling dry and scratchy which is pretty odd. That may just be a sensitivity to an ingredient (maybe citric acid) as processed popsicles hurt my throat too.

Excellent Yogurt (Dairy or nonDary)

The first thing I noticed (after a quick stir) was the incredible taste. I have only tried the Strawberry, Blueberry and the Peach; all are wonderful, but my favorite is the Peach. Trust me, I gave nothing up by going dairy free with this yogurt; it is simply better (IMO) than a dairy alternative.

Great alternative to dairy yogurt

Better than other dairy-free yogurts, like soy or almond milk. My favoriteS are key lime and chocolates.

plain is best, vanilla is good too

I can’t have dairy or nut yogurts and I’m trying not to eat too much soy, so this is about my only option. The best part of this yogurt is that one single serve has 25% of my daily requirement for calcium. Some plant-based yogurts have little to none! It’s hard for me to get my calcium requirements, so this is really important to me when choosing plant-based milks or yogurts. I like that you can use the plain for savory or sweet. I prefer the plain and like the light, clean taste of it, I prefer to add my own drizzle of maple syrup or honey and cut-up fruit for sweet, or for savory adding in herbs and spices for Indian or Middle Eastern dishes. It’s hard to find the plain, so I’ll get vanilla if that’s all that’s available. I recommend this brand. 4 instead of 5 starts because it still doesn’t match the consistency of dairy or nut yogurt, but if this is the only option, it’s good.

Love love the new So Delicious Coconut Yogurt. My favorite so far is the plain and keylime pie. I wasn’t crazy bout the consistency of the strawberry and vanilla but it was still good.

Hesitant but loved!

The only reason I bought this yogurt is because of the lack of more organic yogurt options. I’d seen it time and time again but passed it up given I thought that I wouldn’t like it due to the coconut base. I’m generally not a fan of coconut but I absolutely loved it! I was especially pleased with the lower than usual sugar content that is common with other organic yogurt options as well… I’ve yet to try the unsweetened version. I didn’t even notice a coconut taste in the strawberry flavor, however, I did in the in peach flavor. Again though, I was pleasantly surprised with the smooth, almost unnoticeable coconut flavor and I actually enjoyed it. Will definitely buy again and again!

  1. Seems all these comments are older, but I’d like to leave my update. I’ve been getting this (unsweetened and the sweetened vanilla) when I can find them as they tend to sell out quickly. I love the silky texture mouth feel. I bring a small tub of it to work each day (I scoop out from a large one at home) and when at work add my self-blended granola. Great pick me up for “brunch” hour at work. I’ve never had an issue with a change in texture. I had unsweetened plain yogurt last week because I couldn’t find this – and boy – the difference turned me against yogurt! lol The coconut milk “yogurt” is light and blends well as a “carrier”for my granola. The real yogurt was heavy and had the yogurt tang to it that seemed to fight the flavors of my granola.

    • Thanks for sharing your review Terry! Helpful insights and aI agree with you – it’s still a staple dairy-free yogurt for me, especially the unsweetened.

  2. Just tried your wonderful coconut blueberry yogurt! And as I was savoring, an ad came to me (and THAT never happens). As I am wearing an outfit that perfectly matched your blueberry flavor, I imagined a person, dressed
as I am, pleasurably spooning mouthfuls of the treat in her/his mouth, when a drop finds its way onto their shirt (close up). No voice over, just words that say something like:

    “It so perfectly matches you.
    So Delicious coconut yogurt.

  3. My husband is on dialysis and cannot have dairy, so this may be the thing for him. I need to know if this contains any phosphorous.

  4. I am trying to consume Cold pressed organic unrefined coconut oil in foods. Desired daily dosage 3 Tbs per day. I do not find the amount of coconut oil in the coconut products per serving. Can you inform me about the yogurt, milk, unsweetened frozen dessert? Thanks!

  5. I find that this product is still ‘too commercial for a dairy alternative” It is difficult to make coconut yogurt taste like dairy yogurt and why would you, is my question… If you’ve ever tasted Anita’s Yogurt, you would see that with coconut yogurt made with only 3 natural organic l ingredients, the texture will vary and that’s ok.. To try to make the texture consistent with a dairy process is unnatural. What is more, adding vanilla flavor is adding MSG. Adding any Natural flavors is adding MSG. So-Delicious you can do better.

  6. So many of these yogurts contain inulin which I can’t seem to digest. Did they remove the inulin from their formula as well?
