Updated in 2021! Like many other dairy-free cheese alternatives, the So Delicious Dairy-Free Shreds formula has changed a bit in its short life. They cut out the pea protein and made a few other minor tweaks. They’ve also changed up the packaging! So I’ve updated this post with all of the latest information on ingredients, availability, and more, and have added the latest product images.
So Delicious Dairy-Free Shreds are Making Many People Say Cheese
We initially tried this cheese alternative not long after it was first released. We had a smattering atop a big plate of nachos, and it wasn’t perfect, but it was pleasurable. I haven’t tried it since the minor reformulation, but I know many of you have. Be sure to leave your rating and review below once you’ve bought and tried it!

Might return for the Mozza
We tried the Cheddar Jack on nachos and it wasn’t bad at all, but didn’t melt well and didn’t add as much flavor as hoped. We tried the Mozzarella on pizza (on the sauce, under loads of toppings) and it melted surprisingly well (not sure it would have if sprinkled on top though). The flavor was pretty good (enjoyed by two cheese eaters), but a little mild. We used quite a bit, and could definitely taste it, but if you use a light sprinkle, the flavor might get lost.
Caused heart palpitations
After lots of trial and error and food diary came to 100% conclusion for whatever reason this cheese makes my heart race after consuming it for about an hour. Not sure what added ingredient is doing it but I only get this issue with this brand of cheese.
Negligible nutrition
I really like the taste, but the only nutrition is less than 1 g of protein, so what’s really the point of making it?
Crappy product.
Too much to sugar. Awful taste. Crappy product. I was disappointed.
Soy delicious Mozzarella
It was horrible. I tried to make pizza with it. It did finally melt but when you ate it, it stuck to your teeth and has a weird texture. My Grandson wouldn’t eat it. So on to the next brand.
Flavor is fine, but it will NOT melt
Tried to do pizza. Used Voia Life “(sp?) and it was excellent, but very pricey. Thought this would be a better priced alternative. after 20 minutes in 400 degrees, it hadn’t melted at all, what a disappointment.
Cheddar doesn't melt but mozzarella does.
Was so happy to finally find a cheese sub that didn’t have pea protein in it. The flavor is great.
Now Target in Lubbock, Texas is no longer selling and it was the only store I could find that did. So I have no where to buy it! In AZ you can buy it at Walmart. Wish more store would sell it.
Melting
It doesn’t really melt very well.

If this is “one of the best vegan cheeses” out there, I’m in trouble.
Texture is good, but had absolutely no flavor.
Not great..
I bought both mozzarella and Cheddar jack, and I thought Daiya was bad but this is worse.. The cheese has a weird aftertaste like most (besides Chao) and it’s sweet and smells/tastes weird. I’d say the flavor is too strong for cheese, and it should be milkier. Not this sour/sweet taste. I regret buying, idk what to do with them. But So Delicious does have the best ice cream and yogurt!
