Emmy’s Chocolate Sauce is Raw, Vegan and Gluten-Free (DISCONTINUED)

Sadly, Emmy’s Chocolate Sauce was discontinued, but they still make Emmy’s Organic Raw Macaroons.

Now that the demand for dairy-free chocolate bars is nearing fulfillment, we’re ready for more chocolaty indulgences sans dairy. One of my most recent finds is Emmy’s Chocolate Sauce. It’s indulgent, yet wholesome. Made simply with organic raw agave, organic raw cacao powder, organic vanilla bean, and himalayan crystal salt.

Straight from the shelf-stable jar, this dessert sauce is like a thick, rich, fudgy frosting. And yes, it’s every bit as decadent as it looks.

Tasting Notes for Emmy’s Chocolate Sauce

According to the label, I was sampling the Original Dark, though I found the flavor to be more of semi-sweet. Due to the sharpness of the agave nectar, it slightly overpowers the cocoa depth. I’d love it if they reduced the sweetener a smidgen and possibly even cut it with maple syrup to mellow.

That said, the sweetness makes this a great option for using as a pastry filling (dairy-free chocolate croissants anyone?)! As well as adding natural sweetness to smoothies, or spreading on cupcakes or bars that could use a bright pop of flavor.

In addition, it melts with ease perfect for drizzling atop your favorite fruit or dessert. We went all out with dairy-free, gluten-free brownie sundaes!

I love Emmy’s Chocolate Sauce. When I can find it, that is! I live in Albuquerque, NM and was buying it at Sprouts but they aren’t selling it any longer, so get it at Whole Foods. Moving to Ithaca, NY soon, is that where the Emmy’s factory is? I read it somewhere but not sure.
