A Trio of Healthy Detox Watermelon Smoothie Recipes

I appreciate Whole Foods, don’t get me wrong, but it’s hard not to question their inflated prices at times. Case in point – yesterday we popped in for some lunch while out grocery shopping. At the checkout they had 16-ounce bottles of “fresh juices” chilling in ice, ready for thirsty customers to spontaneously grab. One variety was watermelon juice – for $4.99! Do you know how much it costs to “juice” watermelon, particularly during watermelon season? I would say about 50 cents and 30 seconds of time in the blender – and no, it wasn’t even organic watermelon juice. And just to show how easy and amazing “watermelon juice” is, I’ve got a trio of healthy, sweet, detoxifying watermelon smoothie recipes to share with you today!

Enjoy this Trio of Healthy, Sweet, Refreshing and Detoxifying Watermelon Smoothie and Juice Recipes. All are naturally vegan, paleo, top allergen-free, and just generally good for you!

These watermelon smoothie recipes & photo were shared with us by the National Watermelon Promotion Board.

These watermelon smoothie recipes are about as pure as it gets – with only fruits and vegetables nourish, hydrate and refresh. On its own, sweet seasonal watermelon is packed with arginine and citrulline, which may help to improve blood flow. It also has a high water and potassium level that can offer serious hydration and potentially aid the body in flushing out unwanted fluids and reducing bloat.

Though a couple of these watermelon smoothie recipes do have juice options, keep in mind that many conventional juicers require you to throw away the pulp, which means throwing out some possible bonus health benefits. Also, though not required, a high-speed blender may come in handy to fully pulverize all of those fresh fruits and veggies into a smooth replenishing drink.

Special Diet Notes: Detox Watermelon Smoothie Recipes

    By ingredients, these recipes are dairy-free / non-dairy, egg-free, gluten-free, grain-free, nut-free, peanut-free, soy-free, vegan / plant-based, vegetarian, paleo, and generally top food allergy-friendly – whew!

Just these gorgeous images have me drooling! I love smoothies but don’t have that magic touch to just toss it all into the blenders. I like the detox element here too. I also just happen to have extra watermelon in fridge. A match made in heaven I’d say!

Wow, those look like a color palette! I know I’d love them all. Too bad I ate all my watermelon earlier … now I must get more!

      Thanks, Alisa. 🙂

I agree that Whole Foods (and most other grocery stores) inflate prices so much! Truth is though if people didn’t buy it they would either drop the price or pull the product. I think it’s all about convenience for most people. I am not one of those people lol! That de-bloat smoothie sounds awesome! Love the horseradish in it.
