So Delicious Oatmilk Yogurt is a Mainstream Alternative with Artisan Quality (DISCONTINUED)

By Alisa Fleming on July 8, 2019 Discontinued Products, Product Reviews

Although oats are still trending, So Delicious Oatmilk Yogurt didn’t survive. But you can still get dairy-free oatmilk yogurt from Silk, Nancy’s, Icelandic Provisions, and Oatly.

So Delicious might not be small potatoes anymore (they’re now owned by Danone), but they’re channeling their grassroots with this new product line. So Delicious Oatmilk Yogurt alternative has launched in four unique, fruit-forward varieties, including Spiced Pear & Fig and Strawberry Rhubarb. Beyond the creative flavors, they’ve added a few special ingredient touches to this probiotic-rich, dairy-free food.

So Delicious Oatmilk Yogurt Alternative Review & Information - ingredients, nutrition facts, ratings and more for this dairy-free, soy-free, pea protein-free, probiotic-rich yogurt line

So Delicious Oatmilk Yogurt is a Mainstream Alternative with Artisan Quality

Unlike most other brands of yogurt alternatives, So Delicious Oatmilk Yogurt is actually fat free (with just .5 grams of fat in one of the flavors). They don’t add any oil or coconut (yes, it’s coconut-free), which eliminates any added fat. This product line is also made without any gums, carrageenan, or pea protein, which I know is good news for many of you.

Another unique feature of So Delicious Oatmilk Yogurt is the addition of calcium citrate. Most products are fortified with calcium carbonate or phosphate, but citrate has the best absorption rate. Calcium carbonate has also been linked to kidney stone formation. I love that a company is finally paying attention to the type of fortification that they add.

And since I know many of you are curious, the live and active cultures in So Delicious yogurts are L. Bulgaricus, S. Thermophilus, L. Rhamnosus, L. Acidophilus, Bif. Bifidum, and Bif. Animalis. According to the company, they are all grown on a plant-based, dairy-free medium.

    Additional Allergen Notes*

A representative from Danone told us that their So Delicious Oatmilk Yogurt alternative is made in a dairy-free facility. However, the So Delicious website states each oatmilk yogurt flavor is certified Kosher DE for dairy equipment. I inquired on this discrepancy for clarification, and they said they were looking into it, but I haven’t heard back yet.

If it is on shared equipment, So Delicious states that they follow stringent allergen protocols:

Ingredients that contain a major allergen are segregated from other ingredients to avoid allergen cross-contact. We plan our production runs with allergens in mind. We clean our equipment at each allergen changeover to ensure allergen removal before the next product run.

I’ve enjoyed every flavor I’ve tried so far, especially the Spiced Pear & Fig. Don’t let the slightly offbeat flavors scare you away; they’re all really good. I REALLY appreciate that these are low-sugar and low-calorie.
