Laughing Planet Cafe Serves a World of Dairy-Free, Vegan & Paleo Food

0

Laughing Planet Cafe has become one of my favorite spots for dairy-free eats. It’s a smallish fast casual chain that focuses on local ingredients and global flavors. At last check, they had locations throughout Oregon and in Reno, Nevada. The menu at each location is pretty much the same, and it boasts a delicious array of salads, soups, burritos, bowls, and smoothies. But they always have seasonal specials and usually fresh-baked desserts on hand.

Beyond Dairy-Free Eats at Laughing Planet Cafe

Their menu includes labels for vegan, paleo, made without gluten, and contains nuts. They don’t label specifically for dairy-free, but the staff is always quite knowledgeable and helpful regarding ingredients. And most of the menu, aside from the quesadillas, is either dairy-free or can be made dairy-free very easily.

And perhaps they could even make the quesadillas dairy free. They offer vegan cheese and vegan sour cream as alternatives on the menu for no extra charge! You can also swap in tofu or tempeh for the meat in most dishes if a purely veg meal is desired.

I’ve tried nearly every dairy-free bowl option at Laughing Planet Cafe, and not one was disappointing. But the Cuban (pictured above) and the Korean (pictured below) are my current favorites.

This is also a fun restaurant for kids. They

Healthy & Indulgent

The entrees at Laughing Planet are stocked with fresh vegetables and seasoned with house-made sauces. They offer rice, brown rice, and quinoa for their bowls, and you can choose corn, flour, or wheat tortillas for the burritos. They’re always happy to customize!

For beverages, you can enjoy their smoothies, most of which are dairy-free and vegan, and all of which are packed with fruit and veggies. Some locations also serve kombucha, and they usually have some healthy “shots” on the seasonal menu.

On the indulgent side, Laughing Planet sources local micro brews and ciders. They also have fresh baked treats. Every time we visit, they have vegan house-made cookies, and there are usually gluten-free cookies too.

Kid-Friendly Cuisine

This is also a great restaurant for little ones. Their kids menu is versatile, so you can customize your child’s options. They also have a very casual setting with dinosaur figures randomly placed on tables. I’ve never quite figured out their overall theme, but that doesn’t really seem to matter.
