Updated for 2022! Did you know that there are almost more brands of vegan “eggnog” on the market than dairy-filled ones? How cool is that? In stores like Whole Foods, dairy-free holiday beverages will actually dominate the shelves. But have no fear, you can find many of these delights at conventional grocers, too. And I’ve confirmed with all of the brands below that these should be popping up for purchase now through the holidays. The shelf-stable ones can also be purchased online in some cases.
Dairy-Free Eggnogs & Vegan Holiday Beverages Available this Year
Unfortunately for eggnog traditionalists and lactose intolerant dairy-free consumers who are not vegan, the market currently lacks “just” dairy-free eggnogs and holiday beverages. I haven’t found any as of yet, anyway. In other words, all of the dairy-free “eggnogs” are also egg-free and vegan. This doesn’t make them any less delicious, but it does put the following vegan eggnogs an extra degree of separation away from the traditional recipe.
Availability: Some of these dairy-free eggnogs and holiday beverages are available now, while some won’t be in stores until November. But we have confirmed their availability this year. Keep your eyes out, and enjoy them while you can. Some will disappear before Christmas, but others can be found into January. You can stock up on the shelf-stable varieties to continue enjoying them all winter.
Allergen Notes: At the time of our review, all items listed below were dairy-free by ingredients. But ingredients are subject to change at any time, and all products are at some degree of risk for allergen cross contamination, whether they have a “may contain” statement or not. Always read the label before consuming any food, and make sure you are familiar with this may contain information. If you are concerned about potential cross contamination of an allergen, always contact the company to discuss their ingredient sourcing and allergen protocols before purchasing. Only you can decide what is safe for your needs.

Natural by Nature Organic Oat Nog
We thought this was a store brand at first, but you can find this dairy-free eggnog alternative at Natural Grocers and sold at Sprouts under their own label. Gluten-free customers should verify the source of the oats. In their company FAQ, they state all of their products are gluten-free, but we couldn’t verify a specific gluten-free statement on this product.

Friendly Farms Almond Nog (ALDI)
Thanks to @aldiforpresident (photo credit!) we know that ALDI’s dairy-free nog is back for the season, and that it has a “beary” cute new look. Sarah has purchased it in prior years, and says it is smooth and creamy, but not as thick as traditional eggnog. It’s mildly spiced and a favorite of hers for baking glazed eggnog bread.

Califia Farms Holiday Nog and Holiday Cold Brew Coffee

Trader Joe’s Dairy-Free Holiday Beverages

I love the Almond Breeze Nog. I’m as happy with it as with dairy egg nog. Hubby and I tried 365 almond nog and neither of us like it. However, to use up the quart, I tried it for making french toast. It makes delicious french toast. So it won’t go to waste.
Heya – please note the Earth’s Own nog is not vegan, as stated on their website the sugar is processed with bone char.
Hi Dave, I searched every which way on every Earth’s Own site and online in general, and didn’t find anything that states this. What I did find was this statement, “SoFresh beverages are free of all animal-sourced ingredients.” In fact, this statement was on all of the Earth’s Own products lines and they state that all are vegan. If you can link to where you found this information, please include it here!
I saw some of the at the store yesterday! So happy to have so many options…sigh…
I had to check this out and see what was new for this year and giggled at the first line because I saw so many different dairy free nogs already on shelves lately. Even traditional ones on clearance and checked the date again to make sure it’s still October.
So no more So Delicious Mint Milk? That was a favorite with the girls. We did Calfia and one likes it and one isn’t a fan, I thought it was good.
I’m a big fan of the Good Karma nog and that will one at the top this year for the added omegas on top of being delicious.
Oh and that Spiced REBBL is a favorite but so hard to find. I can’t have it right now unfortunately or many of their beverages but can’t wait until I can have all my favs again.
Thank you for sharing Alisa! Such an informative post and I can’t wait to track a few of these down!
Wow, on clearance? Now that IS early! I held out on reposting the update until closer to the end of October because a couple of these brands weren’t hitting shelves until late this month. But some did actually come out in September! Yes, sadly So Delicious and Silk scaled back their flavors over the past few years.
This is a great list of alternative holiday drinks. I can’t wait to see which ones are fully Vegan.
All of the brands are!
I’ve tried some of these dairy free nogs, but I haven’t tried them all yet! I’m especially excited to find some of the dairy free coffee creamers. Pumpkin Spice is my favorite!
Well then you are definitely in luck! Most of the pumpkin spice options disappeared from the holiday beverage line-up, but those creamers are filling in the gap 🙂
