The Gelato Cone is a family owned and operated ice cream shop that was founded in Europe, way back in 1956. They relocated to Texas, and are gradually opening up shops. The first one started in Allen, Texas, and one in North Dallas just recently opened. A third location in downtown Plano should be open by fall of 2018. And it looks like Frisco might be a possibility soon, too.
They make classic gelato, but also have a nice array of “milk free” options. Their dairy-free and gluten-free menu of flavors includes dark chocolate, pumpkin, kiwi, watermelon (also nut-free), green apple, and pomegranate (also nut-free). All of their fruit flavors are also egg-free. Just be sure to order your scoops in a cup, as I was told that their cones do contain dairy.
I also inquired on their other menu items. The waffles and gelato cakes are not dairy-free, and at this time, they do not offer any dairy-free options for their coffee drinks. But I confirmed that they do have dairy-free smoothies. At last check, they were open midday into the night, seven days a week.
