As their name implies, Plant Love Ice Cream is a 100% plant-based shop that scoops various flavors of dairy-free ice cream. They’re strictly vegan (no honey used), and use fresh, organic ingredients to churn each batch. They also shun artificial colors or flavoring, and are “very cautious with the cross-contamination of allergens.”
Plant Love Ice Cream in St. Petersburg Consciously Churns Vegan Flavors
Plant Love Ice Cream was started by a mother and son team, Matthew Matchin and his mother Jo Matchin. This dynamic duo is not only committed to producing delicious vegan ice cream, they are also dedicated to conscious living through environmental awareness and community support. They source reusable and compostable products as often as possible, and they continuously host a local artist collective. As a result, you will be welcomed into an eclectic space filled with art, craftsmanship, plants, and of course, ice cream.
The base of Plant Love’s dairy-free ice cream is coconut milk, and they sweeten it with organic raw cane sugar. They offer about a dozen flavors daily, ranging from the familiar to
Plant Love Ice Cream provides comforting favorites like Queen Vanilla Bean and Divine Chocolate. But they also up the ante with flavors like Mint Fudge Brownie, Orange Dream, and my favorite, Pecan Praline.
These flavors are crafted with herbs, spices, and superfoods to promote health and satisfied cravings. As an example, their Golden Milk ice cream is infused with turmeric, ginger, black pepper, and cardamom.
Decadent Valhalla Cookie ice cream combines their classic vanilla ice cream with chocolate chip cookies from the vegan Valhalla Bakery in Florida. And they churn batches a few flavors of ice cream that are mixed with other locally made ingredients.
We’re not really sure how “seasonal” they are, but Plant Love seems to always have some new flavors they are trying out. We’ve spotted Bananas Foster, Matcha with White Chocolate, Blue Majik Vanilla, and Rainbow.
If you can’t decide on one flavor, or even two, then order a flight. They offer a 5 scoop flight that lets you choose five different flavors.
You can order your Plant Love ice cream in an eco-friendly bowl, classic cone, or a gluten-free, vegan waffle cone, with toppings or without. They can also make you an ice cream sandwich with those Valhalla vegan cookies, and they have shakes and floats coming soon.
