Sizzling Summer BBQ Recipe Contest

0, June 2007 – With a dramatic rise in the popularity of vegetarian and vegan diets, it seems that fresh vegetables and fruits are appearing on grills almost as often as meat during the summer season.  To help encourage those veggie barbecues, the folks at are sponsoring a "Best Summer BBQ Recipe" contest.  


Homemade veggie burgers, shish kabobs, grilled pineapple, potato salad … what is your favorite recipe? The top three winning recipes will be featured on and First place will receive a Turbo Sport infrared stainless steel portable grill and one set of three vegan barbecue sauces. Second and third place will each receive a set of three delicious barbecue sauces from Annie’s Naturals, Robbie’s, and Follow Your Heart, in addition to Robin Robertson’s The Vegetarian Meat & Potatoes Cookbook.

The only requirements are that the recipes be vegan (no dairy, eggs, meat, fish, or other animal products) and suitable for a barbecue. The entry round ends at midnight on the 4th of July, so be sure to enter soon. A panel of PETA chefs will then select the three best recipes based on taste, creativity, and theme. Winners will be announced by August 1 on Go to VegCooking to enter your best recipe.
